My flocks have mycoplasma.
We are moving by the end of the year.
I enjoy hatching eggs and selling chicks. Thankfully there were no sales over 6 weeks before I brought home the unknowingly infected bird. Even with a 30 day quarantine, we know MG/MS infected birds are carriers for life. No...
Ok, hear me out.
I am looking into the future. I would like to import some real English type Orpingtons. Bred to the UK standard. Looking for quality Black, Buff, and possibly spangled or mottled. But here’s where I’ve hit a roadblock…
Is anyone here working with Orpingtons in Europe or UK?
I...
Ok!! I love my orps. But I also love colored eggs. What breeds would you recommend using to cross with orps to try and keep type, but also gain blue eggs!!
I understand they won’t be pure Orpingtons, but I like projects 🙂
Preferably something with a single comb. But also a blue egg layer with...
Ok. Is it possible? I love BLR Wyandottes but LOVE the orps just a bit more!! What genetics would I need to make BLR orps? Are they already a thing? Would love any info y’all might have 🙂
Hey all! Curious on finding out the most funky colored orps you have/have seen. I’m putting together a fun flock of English /English type orps. So far I’m obsessed with chocolate mottled wheaten, blue buff columbian, all the mottled birds, lemon cuckoo… show me what else you’ve seen that isn’t...
I’ve looked through a few pages and found an Orpington thread, but none that were specifically for Chocolates. Let’s show them off!
I understand that they still aren’t APA recognized, but who cares?
Hello all!
We are going to start breeding in/out colors/combs/other things in our French Black Copper Marans. My questions are,
Does hen color influence chicks more than rooster color?
Does hen comb type influence chicks over rooster?
Anyone know what this is? Could it be a growth, part of his comb, or a kind of tumor? Just curious. He is a French Black Copper Marans Rooster. He is 4 months old. (Easter Hatch) We don't want to cull him until we know what it is. He has had the same food, no changes other than the warmer...
So... we finally got an incubator!! It's a Brinsea Octogon Advance. Anybody have one? We hope to start hatching soon!! We are still figuring out how to use it.
So this hen came in with a large batch of regular brown americaunas. They are just hatchery pullets from a feed store, but we don't know excactly what kind of chicken she is. Any ideas? We think it's a white americauna.
So my mom picked up two hatchery chicks a few months ago, and we aren't sure what kinds of birds they are.
Mocha
Latte white americauna?
They are both 3-4 months old, and we have detirmined they are hens. If you know what type of birds these are, please let me know.
Ok so my friend and I want to start our own little breeding project. We want large eggs (Americana) and we also want some pretty colors on those eggs. The other thing is that we want color on the birds. Anericaunas are pretty but we want even more. What do you think about Americaunas and...
Ok so my grains asked me to post a question on here. Her hens have ceramic eggs in laying boxes but the hens lay on the ground. My hens all (except my speckled Sussex) grew out of it. Anything else she can do? Sometimes the hens are laying in the roosts too, so they end up with broken eggs.
Please help, somebody. We hatched out three chicks about a month ago. One died this morning while I was not present. The other two are in a brooder, Phoenix the broody mama hen is showing no interest so she is not with them. They have a heat lamp. One chicks beak is chatering, has been all day...
