White Silkie Cockerel - South Texas

Hatched in Feb. As is so often the case, I ended up with more boys than I need. I'd rather find him a new home than cull him. He's a little standoffish from lack of handling but, does calm down once you catch him. I think with the proper attention, he'll probably turn into a sweet little pet...

Keeping roosters in check, am I the only one that does this?

I have this really pretty Welsummer rooster in my flock. He does a great job of watching out for the hens so we've given him a little leniency on some of his sauciness but, I'm not on for human agressive roosters either. When he was younger, he'd make a sneak attack from behind occasionally...

    Broody hatched her clutch

I had a Bantam Cochin go broody a few weeks back so I let her have 7 eggs, she hatched them all yesterday and is mothering them quite well. We have a LF Welsummer and 2 Bantam Brahma roosters. I know we got 1 pure Welsummer, 1 Welsummer x Brahma, 2 Welsummer x Cuckoo Marans (which are...

2 week old chick with scissor beak

One of my Ameraucana chicks has developed scissor beak suddenly. There's nothing in the brooder for it to get injured on so I don't know what happened. I'm gathering there isn't much I can do to fix this from searching online but, thought I'd check with you guys to see if anyone has a remedy.

Day 11 candling, which of these are developing and which should I discard?

This is my first time trying to incubate eggs. I've got 8 white Silkie and 6 Ameraucana eggs in the incubator and I'm using a Magicfly Automatic. I've got a thermometer/hydrometer and have been keeping temp in the 37 - 38.5 C range (this thing just isn't that precise) and humidity between 45 -...

I think my chicken is transgender...

OK, I'm fairly certain this is a Buff Brahma bantam pullet but, she seems to think she's a rooster. I have a Welsummer rooster so she's not doing this in the absence of a proper rooster, she does it whenever he crows. Am I confused, or is she?

    My little coop

Our long term plan is to let our chickens range and coop them up only at night or when we're not home to protect them from predators so we didn't build a very big coop. We only have 12 birds (6 Bantams and 6 full size). I built them a 6x6x6 covered on 2 sides with siding to protect them from...

    Breed and gender help, please.

We've figured out what most of our mystery Bantams are now but this one still has us puzzled. We got a nice mix of 3 Cochins, a Buff Brahma and a solid black one that we're also still not sure about. Can anyone give me a breed and gender identity on this one? I appreciate the help.

New to chickens, new here, can you help me identify what I've got?

We've recently moved to our land and have started our chicken flock. Since we're new to all of this, we picked up 6 Bantam chicks at Tractor Supply that my wife thought were cute and we're not sure what the breeds are so if you guys could help us out, we would sure appreciate it. I think I...
