Alright, so, long story short (haha just kidding this is a long post)
I've got 3 ducks right now, and I'm in a situation I have not encountered before. Two of them, a call drake and a wild muscovy hen, have both been with me since they were young, are incredibly tame, and well trained (they...
I picked this guy up at an auction for 6 bucks today, he's an absolutely beautiful fellow and very friendly to boot, so I'm very happy :)
However, I was wondering exactly what color he is. If I had to guess snowy/harlequin with some sort of dilution gene, but I'm certain there are people here...
So my Muscovy here is 7 weeks old and her flights have started growing in big time the past couple days, and now her wings are a little floppy.
Does this look like the starts of angelwing to you guys, or just her wings not used to the weight of the new feathers yet?
Hey everyone, I have a 3 week old muscovy duckling who is kicking one of her legs back when she walks. I just noticed this tonight. Her mobility is fine and she doesn't seem to be favoring either leg, but her one leg she just kicks back as she steps periodically??
Is this something I should be...
Hey guys, I picked up a month old muscovy yesterday, and I just wanted some reassurance that I did indeed pick a female, lol.
She was one of the smallest out of her clutch, and has female looking feet, however she was not as feathered out as much as some of her siblings (including some very...
So for the past while my male button quail has been bullying his mate.
He will grab at her legs and trip her, and I picked her up today and noticed that she has scabbing around her vent, so I can infer that he has been picking at her around there as well.
Is there anything I can do to stop...
So I'm starting the plans for a "coop" for a couple of pairs of wild ducks (Biakal Teal ,Smew etc) along with a couple of pheasants and doves. In my ponderings I came up with a Drywall Coop. Its cheap ,fairly strong ,and easy to screw together. I can make a 4 x 8 "coop" for roughly 80 dollars...
I have a pair of mallards ,and they are starting to fly now. Assuming I leave them full winged ,should they stick around ?? The hen did a fly around the neighbor hood the other day and came back ,so perhaps it shows more of whats to come ??
Also I live in the city ,if it makes a difference.
Here are my grebes ,two and four days old.

Sorry that you have to follow links ,but I don't feel like using the forums photo uploader and...
I work up one morning to a very unpleasant suprise...
I keep some of my button quail in with my finches ,and some how ,on of them managed to hang herself from the top bars of her cage. As figures ,it was my favorite quail
I thought she was dead ,but as I went to pop her head out of the bars...
So my button quail eggs are on day 18 going on 19 now ,and there are eggs with live chicks in them ,but they wont hatch.
Is there any way that I could trigger hatching, or do something like punch a small whole in the air sack to see if they are attempting to hatch or anything ?? I really...
So ,I set my eggs I got from quaillady today ,then a few hours later ,I went to give some of my button chicks some more food. I keep the chicks in a fish tank. So I slide the top open ,and one rockets out. I move a little to fast ,and pull on the incubator cord with my leg. And my incubator is a...
I do primairly with the buttons when they are around 2.5 weeks old. It keeps them from bashing their heads against the top of the chick tanks ,so no scalping/feather loss happens. I leave the first few flight feathers ,then clip 3-5 feathers on each wing ,depending on the bird. Then I just let...
So here are my 3 little chickies out of 30 eggs shipped from florida. Also any ideas on color ??
My Favorite (Cinnamon ??)
The smallest (Blueface Tuxedo ??)
The fast one (Silver something or the other ??)
