I have 20 ameraucana pullets born July 1. I want to move them to a different hen house w/ lots more room. I have a 2-3 yr old ameraucana rooster that I want to eventually breed with them. Are they too young to put them in the same house with him now? They are 4 1/2 months old.
So, I was visiting a friend that had about 15 geese. She told me most of them are sterile. Not all geese can mate together or this will happen. She says she found out by mistake...what kinds can't cross or you'll have sterile geese. The last thing I want.
Ok, I know some ppl. Don't agree with adding light to the chickens in winter to stimulate laying, but I have 47 chickens and I have had to buy eggs for 2 months now. My question is once the light is added to make about 14 hrs of light, how long before I should find eggs in the nest?? Approximately.
I got an e-mail about the Butter Ball raid in N.C and was furious. Did anyone read this?? I saw the video and it almost made me cry. How can ppl. Be so cruel to a helpless bird or anything??
I read somewhere to dry pluck a duck. Well that's all fine but when I dunked it in hit water to remove the remaining wing feathers it became tedious. It took me almost 2 hrs. UGHHH!!

I finally have 6 muscovy eggs in the incubator and I have it set at 99.5, but everyone is saying the humidity can be from 55-80%, that's a mighty large gap, what should it be? Mine is at 65%, and what should it go to once they go into lockdown at 26 days...Muscovies do take 28 days right...
I am soo happy. I had let my ducks out on the pond about a month ago and still no eggs...well I was really getting down in the dumps. A little while ago I decided to go into the garage to look because I had seen the female duck in the garage a few times just walking around..well I went in and...
