I have a hen that prolapsed because of worms last week, we sadly had to put her down.
Now I have two more hens that look similar... their back ends are red and loosing feathers, is anyone else familiar with this?
I have a buff orpington who has been broody for two days. I'd like to get her three or four chicks to raise.
Have you done it before?
Do I have to wait 21 days or can I give her the chicks sooner?
Any advice?
I have a question about genes and breeding a rooster with hens. This may take a little time to explain. Here is goes!
I have 9 hens from a feed store. They grew up and I let one of my BRs hatch 5 eggs from a family friend who has two Roosters, an Araucana and Dominque. Out of the five eggs...

I have an eight week old Araucana (possible) Delaware cross. Does he/she look like a roo?
I compared the Araucana to the Leghorn which I'm pretty sure is a rooster... what do you think?

Thinner tail feathers?

I have an 8 week old Araucana cross. Does it look like a roo? Sorry, the picture isn't very good. I thought that it may be a rooster due to his/her rounded tail feathers.
I have two broody hens. One Barred Rock and one Partridge Rock. In May the BR went broody and I gave her five chicks to hatch which are growing up fine. After two weeks she kinda ditched them... that bad momma... and is now broody again. She must have encouraged the other hen to go broody...
I had a broody Barred Rock who hatched five chicks three weeks ago tomorrow. She laid her first egg, since going broody, yesterday. Since then she kinda has been apart from the chicks, she still protects them and lets them peck beside her. Should I be worried?
My hens are laying weak shelled eggs and one Buff is laying only floppy eggs. I switched back to Scratch and Peck layers feed and am waiting for results. Help! What should I do?
All my nine hens are fully-free range. They have a hutch where they sleep and lay their eggs, that is where their feeder is kept. When they started laying last fall their shells were strong and hardy, now not so much. One of the Buff Orpington pretty much only lays floppy eggs. I want to switch...
I have two Leghorn chicks which are two weeks old. Cleo and Tilda. I think Cleo may be a rooster, "she" has no tail feathers and a larger comb, but.... "her" wings look like pullet wings (all the different lengths). What do you think?
Tilda on the left, Cleo on the right.
Tilda in the front...

I have an 11 month barred rock who is laying eggs and very healthy. In the last two days she has started becoming very broody. She sits on her nest all puffy and proud and growls when I go to take her off. I noticed that she's missing some feathers on her belly. The bare skin is healthy and...
One (I'm pretty sure) of my nine hens starting laying one "floppy" egg about every three days. All the hens are fully free range and their feathers and skin are perfectly healthy.
Three weeks ago we got a puppy and the puppy likes to chase the chickens to play, not to attack or anything...
