At what age can I start to feed my babies with treats - worms, crickets, oats, bread, yogurt - and table scraps & greens from the garden? They're a week old now and have only had chick crumbles and grit. Thanks

What breeds are recommended for high altitude? Barred Rocks and Black Giants did fine, but weren't very large @ freezer time...is there a meat bird breed that would do well at 6200', in a colder climate (w/ plenty of sunshine though...)? Thanks!
Thanks to all the great advice and pictures on this website our first time processing chickens went pretty smooth this morning . We did 6 Barred Rocks and 2 Black Giants, all exactly 5 months old. Borrowed the chicken plucker and 2 killing cones, used the apple scraper thingy (and my fingers)...
New to this, settled on trying to raise half a dozen PRs for meat in Western Wyoming (6000' elevation, cold nights, but lots of sunshine). They'll start indoors, of course. How long do I want to plan on feeding them, until they're a good size for slaughter? I don't want them to get too tough...
