    Is this egg dead?

My broody grabbed eggs while I was on vacation. The ones that I knew went in on 1/4/25 hatched in the past two days. There are 3 that look completely dark, but not seeing any movement. I don’t know what day she grabbed these so I don’t know when to expect them. I also can’t really see any veins...

New laying hen pacing in and out of coop

Question. My Blue Andalusian hen (far left in pic) is the first to start laying out of all of my 24wk old hens. She has laid about 4 eggs since Wednesday, but all day she goes just in and out of the coop to the run and then lays down in the nest box and repeats it over and over. She lays her...

Half of roosters face is white?! Please help

I have 11wk old chicks. Everyone is fine and eating, drinking, pooping well. But I noticed one side of my roosters face is pale white while the other side is red. I remember my boyfriend telling me a week or so ago this was happening but I didn’t notice with his crest. His crest also droops to...

11wk old (maybe partridge Cochin) sex?

Hi everyone! I got 8 Cochins in late April and this one has been the only toss up. I’m not even sure that it is a partridge Cochin, but it was my best guess. People tend to guess all of my Cochin pullets to be cockerels because they get redder combs early on, so I’m on the fence here. About...

What breed is this feather-footed chick?

I think this was a surprise chick from Murray McMurray or Ideal poultry. No idea what it is. Has feathered feet and straight comb. Much larger than my bantams, but way less feathered than everyone else! They’re about 4wks old. Thank you!

    Cheap brooder!

I hatched out about 30 Bobwhite quail as a first-timer a few days ago. I live in AK and the eggs shipped from Iowa taking 4 days in subzero winter temps. I got 30/43 eggs to hatch! I used the MaticoopX incubator from Amazon (amazing!!!) and now have moved them into the brooder. I used a tote...

Help!!! Is this an internal pip??

Day 20 bobwhite quail eggs. They hatch somewhere between 21-23 days. At 100°F with humidity of 50-55% for first 20 days. Just bumped humidity up to about 73% and left temp at 100°F for lockdown. I candled a few before lockdown and I’m not sure if these are internal pips? It’s already been about...

Bobwhite quail air sacs day 4 candleing?

I am new to hatching bobwhite quail eggs. I thought this whole hatch was going to be a dud because they took 4 days to arrive in mail and it was freezing out in Alaska. I’m seeing development at 4 days of incubation in almost all 43 eggs after setting for 24hrs. I’m curious if I should be seeing...

    Hard chest, green diarrhea, lethargic

Martha is my 9mo Golden Laced Polish. She is laying, but has not laid in 2-3 days.. she always lays every other day. Her chest is extremely swollen, to the point where I can’t even feel a crop on the right side of her chest. It’s all just huge feeling. Really firm. When she squaks at me, only...

“He” is starting to look like “she?” POLISH

He/she is bearded (polish), so sexing by comb or wattles won’t work. 12wks old. Judging by crest, I think “he” is starting to look like a pullet?

    Sexing Cochin

I’ve been asking about these guys since they were 4 weeks old and still am not sure on sex of one of them. I’ll keep updating with new photos! So I have this 11wk old guy, who’s definitely a bantam mottled cochin cockerel. First two photos: Then I have this one who feathered out much faster...

    Putting chicks outside in winter

I got a late hatch this year and have babies that are 7.5 and 9.5wks old. All very feathered. Mostly feather footed breeds I.e. Cochins, d'uccles, silkies, etc. I've had them out in a brooder OUTSIDE with a 250ww red heating bulb over them on only one side of the crate and food and water away...

    SILKIE SEXING QUESTION

I've heard you can sex PARTRIDGE (only) by looking at their wing feathers. Females have a barred pattern and males are just red or brown coloring. IS THIS TRUE? I can post pictures if needed. Thanks!
