Hello everyone!
I took over this thread for Bella1210!
Just post your blog info and I'll add it to the list for you!
Happy blogging everyone!
The Adventures of Challah-Girl
This is my personal blog about my life and things that interest me - vegetarianism, environmentalism, art, recipes...
My little hens have been fruitlessly broody for weeks!
Today one of my girls laid and egg!!
I'm so happy
They really had me worried about them...
It is too hot for them to stay 'cooped up' all day.
Good morning everyone!
I was just wondering if there were any fellow bloggers in the forum.
Chicken Bloggers?
Gardener Bloggers?
Mommy Bloggers?
Food Bloggers?
Anyone? I'm always looking for new blogs I find interesting to read and network.
My silly hen Sepia decided to perch on my stove-top last night. Cutest thing ever!
I brought her inside to put her Hen Saver back on and she hopped right up on the stove - happy as could be.
Chickens are so funny! I never know what to expect from them - I just had to share.
You can see the...
You all remember this from grade school right?
Post a picture of one of your chickens.
Then tell a story about them.
I'll start!
This is pirate. Looking at him now it is hard to believe that when he was little Pirate had almost no feathers on his body so we called him "Nakie butt" for...
Santiago, our alpha hen, died yesterday of what we think was overheating in our severely hot weather. All the other chickens are doing well and have precautions in place to prevent this from reoccurring - but she will be missed.
I came home from work yesterday and found her panting in the deep...
We just hatched our first new baby chick from the eggs of the birds we got last fall. He is a very happy healthy little 6 day old chick now. We have him in a brooder indoors, since the grown chickens didn't want anything to with the little guy. Hopefully when the chick gets bigger, we can...
Hello everyone!
My rooster Baba Yaga has a weird scaly black circles forming on his beak. This does not upset him but I am worried about it.
Could this be avian pox?
Also - do his feet look normal? I'm not exactly sure what a "normal" chicken foot looks like.
Thank you for helping this...
This little araucana chick pictured below - The lightish brown/yellow chick laying down with the HUGE feather tufts.
Who can also be seen in this picture as well...
I was holding this little baby on Friday (and since they were hatched out on Monday the 13th they were 5 days old at the...
Despite all my fears - THE EGGS HATCHED YESTERDAY!
I received ten araucana eggs from skybluegg (http://www.skyblueegg.com/)
After a few days of incubation it was clear that four of the eggs were clear
The other six were developing very well. Then on day 10 I thought that the air sack was on...
Okay so this is my first hatch... I'm on day 10 and the eggs are dark masses now with little fluttering darker shapes in the dark masses... From what I can tell that's a good sign.
However - I'm very worried because the air bubbles are all sort of diagonal from the small end to the middle of...
So I set my first group of eggs into my Repti-Pro 5000 incubator last Monday night at 6pm.
There are 10 eggs in total, Araucana from Sky Blue Egg - all beautiful with no cracked shells but, two with ruptured air cells.
So the ruptured eggs are "standing up" in the incubator being rotated back...
Hello!
I just adopted a three week old Buff Oprington chick on Monday. Before I got her she was kept in a large outdoor pen with lots of other baby chickens, larger almost adult chickens, and dogs running all around outside the pen.
I brought her home and settled her in the brooder with her...
Hello!
So I've been waiting on hatching eggs to arrive that I pre-ordered in January... waiting has been so hard! To keep myself occupied I've been planning, reading, and getting everything ready for the eggs to arrive. Well, last night I went to pick up the last piece of the puzzle - a coop...
Hello!
I'm interested in buying hatching eggs, chicks, or adults for egg production. I live in Gainesville Florida and prefer to buy locally but haven't been able to locate anyone with live quail - lots of meat available though!!
I want to purchase the eggs/birds in June or July and I'm...
