Just wondering breed this guy could be? I love his coloring.
I saw a similar looking rooster on face book (not frizzled though) but the person never answered as to what breed it was.
Thanks guys!
My poor black copper maran rooster has frostbite again, the coldest it’s been here overnight has been -13 (33F) last night.
He got it last year during a much colder period and lost most of the tips on his comb (turned black and died off) I think last year it was due to my stupidity and not...
This is my first time with silkies, they are about 5 months old now, 4 hens and one rooster. (I have two guineas in with this flock and 3 Wyandotte’s that are 2 months younger than the rest)
Everything has been status quo for a couple months now in silkieville everyone has had no problem going...
I hatched these out on May 28 so they’re about 12 weeks. Every single one that I hatched is a roo.. sigh
Would they be worth it to process? They aren’t very big.
Are they going to be tough eating at this stage? Or are they young enough still?
I have 3, 4 week old guineas in with 15, 5 week old chicks outside in an enclosed brooder. This morning I found two of the guineas with wounds, one all on the head and one with a wound on its neck?
can I get an opinion on what it could be?
Ive brought the two in the house and put some...
Long story short, I need my incubator sooner than expected, my Embden eggs have about a week left on them. I originally set them as a little experiment because they were several weeks old and I didn’t think they’d even develop.
I currently have a 2 broody Ancona ducks sitting on the same...
Hi everyone, 2nd time hatching here. First batch Ive set in my new incuview.
I got a dozen silkie hatching eggs from someone local. I candled this morning (which would be halfway through day 7) and they all( just the silkie eggs, I have other breeds in this hatch) look a little strange to me...
I have 6 hens and I haven’t found an egg in Several weeks, they have 24hr access to a small 2000ish gallon in ground pond, where they like to hangout by at night and I suspect that’s where my eggs are, at the bottom of it..
Any suggestions, is it hard to train them to corral into a shelter at...
I have two of them from a poultry fair in the spring. I could have sworn the lady told me they were brabanter’s but I realize now that is clearly wrong.
One of my anconas decided to go broody on a nest of about 13 eggs while I was on vacation so I don’t have a proper timeline here of a set date. I returned on April 15 and she has been sitting since then.
I candled about 7 days ago and they looked to be about day 25 according to the Metzer farms...
i have an in ground, continuously flowing, lined pond for my ducks and geese.. there’s about a foot of organic matter in the bottom that has accumulated over this past winter.
Does anyone know if this would work as a good growing medium for vegetables? Would it be too strong if I don’t let it...
6 chickens!
Inside demensions of the coop are about 50”X50” and 6’ in height. Ventilation is the eaves of the roof. Nothing is sealed up super tight, (as far as the plywood sheeting goes) window is shut for the winter obviously.
The eave openings are about 8”x 48”.
Is this too much? Too little...

One on the left is 105g
Finally getting my first eggs ever! I though it was just a duck laying but now I’ve since found two jumbo sized eggs.
I thought the duck eggs seemed small at first.. but...
Just noticed this today. Need some help, should I be worried about this? Looks like it could be a claw injury, but I’m not 100% certain. What would you guys do?
She doesn’t seem to be limping.
To be fair to the goose, this was an aggravated assault..
I was watching from outside the fence, they were all in the pond, one of my 2 month old Anconas took a nip at one of the 6(ish) week old emden geese. (I have 2 geese)
Honestly I’m kinda impressed it managed to pick the offender out of...
bit of a somber morning for me here. Found one of the girls flattened this morning where they normally pile up. They have roosting bars but they don’t use them yet. I figured they would when they were ready (mistake)
I had 7, 9 week old americaunas, they’ve been sleeping out in the coop in a...
Have 7 Easter eggers here. About 9/10 weeks old.
One I’m certain is a roo. 3 are certainly pullets.
But these 3.. I’m not too sure. I suspect the brown one is a roo since it’s been play fighting with the other one. But the comb has me wondering.
Hard to get pictures of the black ones since...
some of my ancona ducks exhales are whistley/nasaly sounding. Should i be worried? They are about 8/9 weeks old, they are pretty much fully feathered and have access to a pond all day. so i dont think it could be for lack of water.
Also, from what i can gather on here you, should be able to see...
