I have 3 hens (no roosters) just over a year old. They had been laying really well for a while. Now suddenly they have stopped, maybe an egg every few days. And... they've had bald butts for quiet a while. they seem to have molted in march and their butts never filled back in. Is this related...
I have 20 week old girls and a couple of them seem to cluck/sing when the sun comes up - around 6 am or so.... it can be a little loud (annoying) any one else experience this? Usually doesn't last long, but I always worry about the neighbors.
Two nights ago an opossum got into the coop and killed two chickens. We heard the noise and went out and scared him off (and got a good look at him... so we know what it was). Do I have to worry about him coming back? I've sured up the coop really well. So well I'm not sure how or if I'll be...
My hens were just attacked by a possum! I'm so mad at my self for not making them more safe!!! On died - the polish hen... poor thing didn't stand a chance, she can't see a thing! One of the other birds got her tail end attacked pretty good. Her tail feathers are missing some blood (not much at...

I've posted pics for the top three girls in the past and gotten some good feed back about their possible breeds. I know Summer is a BO, and Jasmine on the bottom couldn't deny her Polish Hen roots if she tried. But I'm still not sure what the top two girls might be. Golden Laced Wayndot was...
hey, I was sitting and watching my 2 week old baby chicks, like I do. and I noticed one of them burrowing in the wood shavings and fluffing them up under her wings and such. It looked like she was trying to give her self a dust bath! Do 2 week olds do this?!
I know they are layers, but that's all I know. I've been scowering the internet, but I can't place these girls. What do you all think? No feathers on the legs, I was told they are not bantums (feed store I got them at told me so)
I'm new to keeping chickens. I'm having a lot of fun, I've got 6, 1 week old babies. They are 'assorted layers', and I have a pretty good idea what most of them are, all but two. I was wondering if any one could help be identify them. They have black and white (gray?) bodies with yellowish...
