I've been reading and researching for some time now.
Sparkles my silkie hen has been siting on "eggs" for a few weeks now.
I have new chicks from the feed farm that I was planning on raising myself.
Is it possible to "give" them to Sparkles to raise.
(I know it's possible but I was wondering if...
I got my new babes this afternoon.
Everyone seems fine but (there's always a but)
The temp in the brooder is at 26 C.
That's not warm enough is it?
They don't appear chilled or feel chilly but...that but again.
How can I make it warmer for overnight?
Happy almost Valentine's Day everyone.
I told my husband what my heart's desire was and he picks her up tomorrow.
It's a silkie!!! (not what my husband thought when I said..."Hey hun, for Valentine's day, can you pick me up this chick and bring her home." )
Her name is Sparkles and I'm so...
We have shrews in our yard.
I think one killed my puppy.
My husband bought coyote pee to put around the yard as shrews don't like it.
I was wondering about two things.
The first one is will coyote pee attract coyotes?
The second question is will coyote urine upset my chickens? (can they smell...
The coop is completed but how do I go about putting the rooster and the hen in it?
Do I put one in first or two at the same time?
Who should go in first?
I have some frozen lobster meat that has a bit of ice crystals on it.(the container must not have sealed well)
Can the roosters eat the thawed lobster meat?
For little treats?
My hen just laid an egg.
They have not been in with roosters since July 9th.
Is the egg fertilized?
Could a baby be in there?
I am so new to this and just learning.
I was wondering if anybody can tell me about these chickens.
Would they be good for a beginner like me?
Are they friendly?
I want to get as much feed back as I can before I decide to bring them home.
I currently have two frizzle mix roosters, two seabrights (hens) and a little blue hen.
