Hello all. Longtime member here, usually just reading and searching for info.
I have a (4 year old?) leghorn that I think may be egg bound. Penguin waddle and all. But her abdomen is totally bloated as well.
I did the epsom salt bath, first time when I spotted it Tuesday. She still waddles...
I know this is NOT the correct section to post this, but I do not know where else would be the best place?

I ran across this post while searching for my lost dog I am not in VA, but some members here are bound to be and I thought I'd...
One of my dogs went to her new home this past weekend, 1200 miles north of me, in Fairfax County Virginia, Springfield area. She ran off yesterday (monday) morning. Her new family has alerted all the usual venues: posters, vets, shelters, animal control, police, mailmen, fedex, and the...
I am 1200 miles south, and unable to act, but one of my dogs went missing. She just moved to her new home this weekend and yesterday (monday) morning, she ran off. Very bonded dog, and I am sure she is unfortunately, looking for her 'real' family (being me) If you are in the Springfield VA area...
I posted a question to the coop section. I truly don't know the answer.
Any help and your experiences would be appreciated.

I am considering re-using a structure that is currently 3 foot off the ground. I have seen chicken coops that are as high, or higher, so I assume that for a chicken, as long as a ladder is provided, that would be just fine.
But the (possible) end goal for that structure would be ducks. I lost...
How does one move a 6 x 8 playhouse?
It it not on my property. The F350 and that huge flatbed won't do much good, if you cannot get it up (or off) there, right?
So how DO all these creative BYC folks move stuff like this? Who do you con(tr)act, and what (cost) is usually involved?
I feel bereft. I am now officially out of ducks. I lost one here and there over the past 4 years, but no slaughter. My ducks were free on a large 1 acre pond and were smart enough to stay out there at night and stay safe. But we have a horrid heatwave and had way too little rain to sustain a...
I am currently being besieged by some predator that has my tiny flock roosting on the porch all day, and only out on the pond at night. So far, my ducks have proven to be survivors. I am trying to tell myself that they live(d) wonderful lives while it lasted and that lead to the question: how...
My ducks have decided that they want to roost on my porch all day long. Not funny, because they poop the (brick) porch up something horrible. At first I thought it was related to their egg laying season, since the nests are close(r) to the house this time, instead of at the pond where they used...
Oh darn. My ducks lay in the brush. Finally. (they used to spead it all over the property, or so it seemed)
I saw a pekin laying at her usual spot, a nest in front of a dog kennel. Good thinking! Safe from most predators.
Since I was in a hurry this morning, I was going to pick up the fresh...
So I never wanted cats. But the people half a mile from here moved off (out here in the sticks) and left their cats and so one showed up, pregnant. She has her babies and the rest is history. So feral that I could not catch them but the new generation is taming down. (So I can spay and neuter...
I have been owned by a small flock of ducks for 4 years now. Some came because some others went. Living the good life on a half acre pond is nice as long as there is enough water and as long as you follow the example of the smart leader who stays right in the middle at night when the predators...
Hello,
On this nice and hot day in the mid nineties, with our usual 97% humidity, I was running coop designs through my head again. This site has already helped narrow my options down, but part of what it would end up looking like will indeed still depend on the coop location. I have options...
Hello,
I have been lurking for a while now, and thought I'd introduce myself. I live in Eastern Texas, and after a long time of procrastination, I am trying to gently break the news to my husband that we are going to have to adopt a flock of chickens, now that my neighbors steady egg supply has...
