I've googled to try to determine which is which, but as far as looks, they appear to be the same...or at least to my "untrained" eye. Here's a pic of my guy.
I'm so worried for my chickens!!! I'm scared I might lose my flock and I have no idea where to start to try and prevent another death! I hope someone knows what's going on and can give me some advice.
3 have died.
....The first one died when she was about 2 months old (this was a little over...
In the words of my son, "What the hens?"
She's only 8.5 weeks old? Is she trying to crow or is this something else - she keeps her mouth open afterward...is she ok?
I'm am looking to buy:
eggs that will hatch out potential BLUE egg-layers!!!!!
(the bluer the better)
eggs that will hatch out potential OLIVE egg-layers!!!!!
eggs that will hatch out potential SPECKLED egg-layers!!!!!
(Brown or green)
I am not concerned with whether or not...
I've heard this breed is fairly easy to sex, but I have no experience. It looks like a boy to me...but I couldn't tell you why.
the one in the front.....
I need to know ASAP...It's dusk and I have to know whether close this mama out or give her back her baby!!
My Wyandotte is a first time mom and her only egg hatched today... we checked earlier and noticed she was pecking at it. I've seen moms do this before and thought not much of it. But...
Remember that commercial? Actually, the temperature under my broody....
Assuming she didn't sneak any breaks (I tried to check after her breaks, but gave her time to regulate the temp under her), the temp ranged from 89.2 - 101.7 degrees; 37-60% humidity.
Just thought I'd share!
This is my second time dealing with shipped eggs and I also had some watery eggs the first time too. (When I say watery, I mean that when I candle the egg, the air cell is intact, albeit misshaped sometimes, but there is extra fluid inside. You can clearly see that when you GENTLY move/vibrate...
I was googling for something unrelated to chickens (shoes actually), and a pic of this chicken came up. I know she's a silkie, but what color? Does partridge look like this on a silkie?
Has anyone done this, and how did it all play out?
I have 6 chickens (1 pullet...and the other 5 are all broody right now). I will be giving ALL of them eggs at the same time once they arrive. I hadn't planned on separating them. I've used one of the broodies in the past and didn't separate...
I'll have some hens going broody soon, so I'm starting to look for someone that I can buy some eggs from. I'd like to buy 6 potential DEEP OLIVE-eggers, and 6 potential BRIGHT BLUE egg-layers. The more saturated the color they'll give me, the better
I'm not concerned with the breed or color...
My 10 year old daughter and I are looking to add some color to our basket. We'd like some bright blue layers AND dark olive or mossy green layers. 2nd gen. or more. Pullets or hatching eggs, preferably the former.
I'll pay for shipped eggs only from states surrounding NY for less chance of...
Ok, breeders...I have a question for you about mating. Are chickens at all like dogs, where you can look for a the sire to breed your female to? I know how hens are if you introduce them to a new member, but I'm not sure how that goes with roosters. Do they want to mate with any hen that comes...
I have a young mille fleur bantam cochin hen that I'm hoping to trade for a hen that lays a bright blue or dark olive/moss egg. If you don't want to trade, I will buy!!!!
She'll be 1 year old this summer and would like to trade her for a hen of the same age. She lays a small, lightly-tinted...
I'm looking for TRUE Olive eggers (BCM x Ameraucana), Welsummers, and/or Black Copper Marans. FERTILE EGGS or PULLETS. I'm in central NY and hoping to find someone nearby so I can do a pick up. Let me know if you have any!!!
Thanks!
I have 2 black cochins (one cockeral, one pullet). They both came from the same father (a mille fleur cochin) and mother (blue cochin). First of all, because they are brother and sister is it okay for them to mate (obviously I don't know anything about breeding... but I thought "inbreeding"...
This baby is 4 weeks old. It is supposed to be a Lavendar Ameracauna. I'm hoping it's a girl...I notice this chick doesn't have much for a tail, but not sure what that means for Ameracaunas. This is the only Ameracauna out of the bunch of chicks I have, so I can't really compare apples to...
These chicks are a tad bit older than 4 wks. There are some differences between the two. I personally think they are boy and girl, but I'd like some other opinions too.
This is the first one, we'll call it Frank.
Here is the second one, hmmm.... how about Francesca? (Standing on the...
I had a bad hatch and now I'm looking for chicks to replace the eggs that would've hatched. The ones that did hatch are now 5 days old, so I'd like to get chicks of the same age to blend in with them (and the silkie that is mothering them.)
I'm hoping to find someone local so I can pick them...
