This year I have more hens molting than previous years, and there are feathers everywhere! I try to keep them picked up, but I am not getting them all! Is it okay to let the feathers stay in their run? I have heard that feathers in a run can attract lice/mites ..is this true? East Tennessee

What do you do, when only one hen is starting a molt, and the others are not, how do you feed for the one molting and make sure the active layers are getting the nutrition they need?
I live in East Tennessee, and my two ,Silver Laced Wyandottes which will be 3 in August are starting to lay paper thin shelled eggs or rubber eggs… they have plenty of oyster shells in bowls around their run, and they are fed a nutritious complete layer pellets… in addition to that they have...

I went into the coop tonight to do my nighttime headcount, and one of my girls was not on the roost but on the floor, I picked her up to check on her and she didn’t even fight it, I sat her on the roost and she dropped her tail and wing feathers, I picked her back up and she passed what looked...
Does anyone else have a hen who poops every time she lays her eggs? I have one hen who does this all the time! She is parasite free and no worms… her poop looks healthy but she always lays an egg with it..she does take a long time to lay her eggs so I contribute this habit to that… any others...
Is it normal for the pecking order to be reestablished? My Brown Leghorn (9 months old) used to be at the bottom, she is now challenging her flock mate Sapphire Olive Egger who’s also 9 months old! They are actually going at it like two Roosters, so far just minor pecks on combs .. most of the...

My Brown Leghorn has been online for three weeks, laying daily and typical pullet sized eggs, but the last two times she had laid, the eggs are huge! Today’s egg had some tinge of blood on it, is that okay? It is hard to believe that such a small hen can lay such a large egg, my Wyandottes eggs...
My 2 year old hen is actively in a pretty decent molt , she is eating very well, and drinking lots of water, my concern is her droppings are extremely runny, they look healthy just very watery.. could this be because she is in active molt?
