After crossing a Brown Leghorn Roo (crossed with a black mottled something with a pea comb) and a white rock, the resulting chicks are mostly white (some with spots). I expected them to have more color.... is white dominant?
I know that I should know this....but for some reason, the BOs still allude me.... thanks in advance.
Please help me- what are Freckilina, PJ, and Ronald J??? They will be 21 weeks on Sunday.

I cannot have roos- that is the sad part. This little guy, Pingu, was born in May of this year and has turned into a most handsome cockeral. He has what appears to be a cross between a pea and a v-comb. He is all black irridescent with highlights of red on his neck and back. He has two...
I don't want to, but my Jersey Giant cockeral is limping so badly... he can't support any weight on his leg. There are no signs of trauma or bumblefoot... it is breaking my heart.
What do I do?
I am not quite sure what happened.... maybe he jumped down from the roosting bar, I don't know. All I do know is that my 6 month old Blue Jersey Giant roo walks around like his right leg has "given out" on him- he has been walking with a bad limp for the last 3-4 days.....what do I do? He...
Stitch got off the nest today (with babies in tow) long enough to let Ivory on to lay her eggs. I picked up one of the eggs that was due today, but it seemed to have a lot of liquid in it. Did it go bad? (I think I had 2 quitters, but not sure)
Ok- The eggs were laid on Saturday and I put them under Stitch, my broody EE, tonight. I guess today is day 1 or was Saturday Day 1? I didn't candle any of the eggs, but am just letting Mother Nature or Broody Chicken take her course. I will update later.
I know- it seems silly to mourn the loss of a chicken- but she was MY chicken, my favorite chicken. She was the one that went to the kids' school and became thier honorary mascott. She was the chicken that had the sweetest disposition. She was the one that liked to be held. She was the one I...
Here's Del (was supposed to be Delilah). We are not allowed to have roosters We are trying to find him a good home where he won't be dinner. We are not asking for any money- just a promise of a good home. I will not ship him- I don't have the heart after hearing all of the horror stories...
Surprise surprise- it has now been touted that eggs are healthier than originally thought. They talk about the chickens having better diets and more exercise... The USDA now says that you can have 1 egg a day....
The link for the news story...
We lost Ms. Fluffy Buttons Tuesday. We have no idea why- it looks like she may have broken her neck. No signs of trauma, no worms, no lice or mites..... She was 6 mos old.
A Photo of Her Back in Sept.:
You will be sorely missed
Ok- so we have been getting eggs from Stitch, our EE. Today, when we got home, there was an egg waiting for us, but this one was shaped differently and was a green egg (Stitch's eggs are a pale aqua blue)..... could it be that our other EE is laying again? Or is it the EE cross laying her...
