One of my 2 month old chicks got her neck stuck out of a small hole in the coop. It didn't appear bad at the time, however it is gaping now, perhaps because of getting picked. We have separated her from the others to avoid them pecking it. What else do I do??? Should I butterfly bandage it...

My turkey eggs are disappearing!! Momma is sitting on them-started with 8, now down to 2 She's in the cage with the tom and another female. I've caught him on her a few times, so maybe he's squishing the eggs...or some say it could be an animal taking them (Nothing is bothering the birds...
I have 2 bourbon red hens and 1 tom that I got last March to have for thanksgiving and christmas. Well...they're still around-I chickened out . They have been mating and I noticed an egg in there coop today ! What do I do? I've never hatched an egg before and do not have any equipment. Will they...
The advice from this site has helped tremendously with my chickens-now 1 year and thriving. I'm onto my next venture. I'm getting 3 bourbon red turkeys in about a month. Do they need to be in a brooder for the same time as chicks? Anyone have pics of their turkey coop set-ups? I don't have a lot...
What does everyone do with their chicken poo? I have just been putting the shavings and dropping into the trash but would like to put it to use as fertilizer and compost. I have a fairly small backyard so no place to hide or escape from the smell...
One of my girls is laying an egg in the run instead of in the nice clean nest. She's been doing this for about a week now. Any ideas to entice her back upstairs?
I got my first egg 3 days ago. A small green one. I haven't gotten anything since that. Is that typical? I was hoping that everyone else would learn from her... They are about 5 months old.
Flowers are blooming, my garden is producing, but no eggs. My gals are 19 weeks old this week. I've heard everything from 16 weeks to 24 weeks for their first eggs. Is this right? Their combs will turn a deeper red when they're ready? AHHHH! The wait is killin' me!
Hi all,
I've heard that chickens will begin laying between 4 and 6 months old. As I am waiting, impatiently, for my first eggs, I was wondering if there was anything I could try to get my girls laying closer to 4 months?
We moved out chicks (10 weeks) to the coop yesterday. It is two story with a ladder, brilliant design, huh? Except they haven't figured out how to use the ladder. Do I teach them? If so...how do I do that?
We're getting ready to move our 10 week old chicks outside into their coop. Do they need a light inside? What do others do as far as nighttime lighting?
I got my chicks from a local feed store. I'm not sure where they had received them from. Since reading more on this site, I have learned that Ameracauna's aren't that common. Is that right? How will I know what type mine are. They were sold as Ameracauna's, but...it seems that can be hit or...
