Wisconsin couple credits pet chicken with alerting them to blaze
In this photo provided by Barb Murray, Brad Krueger of Alma Center, Wis., holds his neighbors’ chicken, Cluck Cluck, on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012. The chicken, which the neighbors kept as a pet, is being credited for saving that...
Petco was having a pet costume contest last Saturday. There were many applicants, but I was the only one with a chicken. We didn't win, but received a seed block and this pic. She went as Yoda.
Tonight as I was tucking the girls in and collecting the eggs, I found one that did not have a shell??? It was the feel of jelly-fish (kind of) and broke in my hand as I tried to clean it up. I have never had this happen before. What causes this, and is this serious? Is my chicken okay?
Has anyone had any success with getting their chickens to wear these? I bought 1 pair for each of my girls and while they don't take them off they sure do try. They'll keep walking backwards to try to take it off and start flapping around. They don't freak out too much but I can't imagine them...

There's a chicken coop tour/backyard chicken show in my state. I'm so excited as this is my first chicken function. I'm also considering bringing one of my girls. Any tips on making this a pleasant experience for her?

Nonie, my Faverolle
Maggie, my Dominique...
