    Chickens and Turkeys?

Okay turkey people, I've raised chickens practically my whole life. Turkeys, no. Let's say I wanted to get a start. Do I need new facilities or are they okay together?

    Call Me Chicken

Where to put this, it's not a game or a joke per se, but it's fun. I had read this a few years back and just found it online. I don't know if ya'll have read this before, and it's a bit odd that this cranky Southern Jew guy would recommend this but. . . this story has always struck a chord...

    Enough is enough (Pictures Added)

Okay, that's it! I was up all night coughing and sniffling because of all the @@#$$@!#@$% dust those girls are making in my house. Tonight they are moving out to the coop. They're completely feathered out and it's warm, so it's time!!!!! Mark

    Camel crickets

So. . . I go down early this morning to fill the water and food, only to find that my little girls are growing big enough to get out of the pen (in the basement). What motivated them? Well, we have this cricket problem. . . or should I say, we did have this cricket problem. Not anymore...

    I'm totally numb

Wow, I'm not quite sure what to say. My whole flock is gone. Something came through the netting on top. Was big enough to knock over two large metal trash cans of feed, pull the feeder from the chain inside the coop, knock a full 3 gallon waterer 30 feet and half eat all of my lovely girls...

A feel good animal story. . . maybe

These things are always good early in the morning. . . ______ In 1986, Mike Membre was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University. On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with its left front foot raised in the air. The elephant seemed...

    It's very quiet here

Brave Sir Robin, our beloved rooster passed sometime in the last day. We were out of town, and a friend was watching the house. She didn't hear anything, so it probably happened when she was out during the afternoon. Not sure why she didn't notice the silence this morning, but it was the...

    Fantastic Day!

    1) Last day of school! Two months of freedom and gardening, and watching chickens and beekeeping! I am so stoked!!! 2) A fawn was just born (about 45 minutes ago) out on the edge of our yard, near my bee hive. Here are some pictures on my flicker page...
