Are treated telephone poles ok in chicken run?

Hi all, I would like to put a couple of tree stumps in the chicken run for them to sit on (similar to pic). My friend can get power pole pieces, however, they are treated with some type of oil or chemical. Should I avoid that?

Does a Broody Hen Prompt Egg-laying By Others?

I have five hens and for the past several months have averaged 2 to 3 eggs a day. A few days ago, one hen went broody. Since then, I have been getting 4 eggs a day. There is only one nesting box, so two cram in there when it's time to lay. No rooster. Does a broody hen prompt egg laying by...

Help Identify droppings **Warning: poop pics**

Hi everyone, I went out to our open hay storage area this morning and found droppings on top of a stack of hay. Would it be gross if I posted a pic of it to help identify what it's from?

What is this on the egg?

We have four hens that lay regularly. They are all about 9-10 months old. For the past month or so, I have been getting eggs that look like the one in the pic. I don't know which hen is laying them. What is that crusty part? It scrapes off easily with my fingernail, and it looks like little...

    Weird shaped eggs

One of the hens lays really weird shaped eggs. Lots of ridges, and sometimes they are gigantic in size. I don't even know which one of our three hens are laying these. All appear healthy and happy. Has anyone had this experience? Should I be concerned?

Lost all 5 last week; need advice re: coop & run

Hi all I had posted on the Predator board that we recently lost all 5 hens. Woke up one morning and all were gone from the run - remains of two were found outside of our property, but the other 3 just disappeared. There were feathers in the coop and run area. Here are a couple of pics of...

*[pics added 4/16 * Lost all 5 this morning...I'm so sad.

Hi all, Have been lurking since getting my first chickens about a year ago and learning so much about my new hobby. This morning all 5 chickens were gone from their run. They have a 2-story coop with free access to outside run. Run is approx 25ft x 50ft. No obvious signs of forced entry...
