Hello,
I live on a lake and have wild geese and ducks. A pair of geese have made a nest in my neighbor's yard. She had two or three eggs and I just saw the neighbor go out and whip their eggs AT them into the lake and then viciously rip their nest up and throw it. :( Now she's still sitting...
Is there anyone in the Akron Ohio area who would be able to home four pekin ducks and one mallard drake? They were left on a friend's lake and she has been feeding them all summer and thought she had a home for them but it fell through. She doesn't have shelter for them and needs to find...
I got a young budgie from a really good shop that hand raises the babies and he is super sweet and super tame already. Just love him. He is really getting comfortable with us and loves getting out and riding around on my shoulder. The only time that doesn't seem quite right is his bedtime...
Here I am again...I'm the one who rescued the mallard egg in May. I read all of you guys' duck posts often and am jealous of you who get to keep your wonderful ducks! I have cut back on feeding my mallard SIGNIFICANTLY and have even left for a week or so. He and his girlfriend do fine, but...
I would just like to share this for anyone who finds an egg or even a baby mallard and wants to rescue it. I have learned ALOT this summer. I made it as short as I could, while still trying to give the full story.
There were three eggs but only one hatched. I live right on a lake with MANY...
I'm pretty sure my mallard has mites. He jumps every few minutes like something is biting his butt. When looking at him, we can't see anything (would they be visible?) but he seems very bothered. I bought some powder to dust him but would like some advice on the best way to do this and keep...
Hopefully someone can help with this: My duck is acting very bothered like he has something either biting his rear end or something in his butt. Even when he gets in the water it doesn't seem to go away. Should I catch him and check him. What would I be looking for?
Thanks for any help.
In our lake we have a family of mallards. A mom with six babies, and they are the bullies of the lake. Where there is food, they come barging in and pecking and fighting any unlucky duck who gets in their way. The "babies" look about 5-6 weeks old, which would make them 2-3 weeks older than my...
We have a creepy Northern Water Snake lurking around our lake. Every time I take my nine day old duckling out to visit the lake, here comes that snake! I know he isn't poisonous, but would he bite my mallard? Should I let him stay in the water when the snake is around? I'm afraid he'll peck...
Sorry..here is another feeding question about my baby mallard (Marshall ) He is eating duck starter feed and things he finds in the lake. How long should I keep him on the starter feed? The bag says "from birth to slaughter" Obviously I do not plan on slaughtering him, so I am wondering if...
Hello! I'm glad I found this site. I have a one week old baby mallard who lost all of his brothers to a predator and the mom abandoned the nest. He's doing well so far and I am hoping I can be a good foster duck mommy until he is ready to make it on his own.
Is it possible for a baby mallard to eat too much? I was under the impression that I should just feed him whenever he wants..as much as he wants. How would I be able to tell if he was eating too much? He is only a week old. He is eating unmedicated duck feed and he also eats whatever he...
