    Golden Cuckoo Marans

My golden cuckoo marans I hatched from pasofinofarm are one week old today. They went for an outing amongst the weeds yesterday in the sun. I am hoping by their color that I have one boy and 6 girls, although that could put a lot of pressure on the one boy. Time will tell.

WTB white showgirl and silkie eggs

I would like to buy white showgirl eggs and white, buff, splash, and cuckoo silkie eggs. I would like pretty good quality. I am looking to diversify my flock, but unfortunately can't afford to pay the prices I see on ebay for the eggs from the really nice looking birds.

    Roosts for silkies

I have never seen my 5 month old silkies sit on a roost. The roosts are pretty low, but they don't use them. They just huddle together on the floor. I am planning on making a "chicken condo" for them so I can separate them by colors. Should I even bother putting roosts in?? Let me know your...

Need multiple chicken family duplex or condo. Any ideas????

I want to separate my silkies out by colors. Has anyone seen economical coop plans I could make that would house 6 chickens max (but probably just 2-4) in each section and then give each group about 4X8 penned area to run outside? We let them free range when we can supervise, but have had too...

    pale comb and wattle

My white leghorn went broody, set for 20 days, went into a molt, and now her feathers are coming in nicely, but I noticed her comb and wattles look much paler than they did before. They are a pale pink. Is this from some kind of nutritional deficiency??? She eats a layer feed with lots of fresh...

Spitzhauben, Egyptian Fayoumi, and EE genders (pic heavy)

I have 5 week old chicks and I am trying to determine genders. Also, would like any spitzhauben experts to comment on the quality of my birds because I don't think it is real great. I am not impressed with the coloring on either, and the 2nd ones crest is very small (although I don't know what...

At what age do you know you need to cull silkies??

How old are your birds when you decide they are not right for your breeding program? My silkies are 6 weeks and there are a few that I know are not good for breeding (single comb, 4 toed, crooked beak), but as for the rest, at what point do you decide they aren't right??

    dry incubation

I am trying the dry incubation method this time, but think im a little too dry. Humidity has been lower this time, I guess from the heater running. I started out the first couple of days around 26% and had a hard time getting it up. Now I am running 34-37%. Is this a good level???

At what age are you able to sex silkies? Mine are only 5 weeks, but are starting to show a little bit of difference in their combs. I know silkies take longer to be able to sex than other chickens, but I don't what age that is.
