Trying to figure out what this little one is. She/he came from a flock of Black copper marans, easter eggers, red sexlinks and silkies. There were no bantams in the flock. It is the same age as the one it is with in the photos but quite a difference in size. The owner of the flock that it came...
Going to give away a couple of roos and want to make sure this is one. Pretty sure I see pointy saddle feathers but the comb and waddles aren't nearly as big and red as the other roo that is the same age. This one is almost 5 months old and not crowing. Definitely a rooster?
Can anyone help identify sex and breed of these chickens. I'm thinking the barred one is a roo?
Know the one is a roo because it crowed twice today. Easter egger? but not sure about the white one. White one has green legs. All of these are about 4 months old.
This one is about 6 weeks...
So no one told my BA that she was supposed to be a quiet breed as suggested on the site that I ordered her from. Since she started laying a couple of weeks ago, she screams the egg song before, during and after laying. Also whenever anyone else is in a nest box. I also got a Golden Comet that...
I visited a farm up the street from us today. They have an apple orchard, and sell eggs. I was able to walk back to where their chickens were. Almost every hen had no tail feathers. Their butts were bare and red. What would cause that?
I have had one "hold out" with my 4 21 weekers. Yesterday got 3 eggs and the 4th pullet yelled victory for each of them and spent most of the day herself in the next box, but didn't give up an egg. Finally came out of the nest box around 4 PM and preened and scratched like normal. This morning...
I have four 21 week old girls. Two have been laying for a couple of weeks now. The 3rd started a couple of days ago. This morning I go to let them out of the coop. They all come racing out looking for the scraps from last night's dinner. I went to check the nest boxes and there weren't any eggs...
Back in the Spring, my husband put down insecticide on the lawn to kill ticks. We had a really bad tick problem and our dog was coming in with several ticks on her a day. The bag said to apply once per season. Our chickens have been in a run and not exposed to that area. We would like to expand...
I know she is a mutt. My daughter hatched her from eggs she got at the barn where she keeps her horse. I think she is really pretty and just wondering what she may be. She lays large light brown eggs. Can be broody. Anyone have any ideas?
I have 4, month old baby chicks. Two black Australorps and two Golden Comets. They have been doing great, but this afternoon I noticed one of the Australorps was very lethargic. Just sitting with it feathers ruffled and eyes closed. Nothing obvious going on with her except maybe her poop is a...
