    Best layer/friendliest breed of chicken?

Now just to clarifiy, I've had chickens my whole life but I've never really been into them. While my dad had chickens I've had ducks and goats. I'm sort of terrified of Roosters but that's probably just because we had two horrible ones that would attack me. We always have Barred Rock's and...

    Rhode Island! ;D

Anyone from Rhode Island? I'm in Westerly. I've got 6 ducks, a potbelly pig, previously had goats and hope to again, and our chickens were cleaned out by a weasel so we plan to get some more of those too, hopefully Opringtons. And I'm always on the lookout for more ducks! (hopefully geese in...

    Buff, Pilgrim, or Sebastopol?

(I'm not getting geese right now, I'll probably wait until next spring unless I become impulsive but I want 1 or 2) I contemplated the breeds of geese that I prefer and narrowed it down to The buff, pilgrim, or sebastopol. I really want a goose that will become attached to me, cuddle, and follow...

    Hurray for deep puddles!

I haven't yet been able to share any pictures of my little duck family (who all hate me lol) because of camera troubles, but I made do with my phone camera which unfortunately turns everything... blue. lol. On the far left is Ferdinand my crested Pekin, the black boy is Hagrid the big black...

Where to get a pair of goslings?

I want to get a pair of goslings when my ducks are grown, probably Pilgrim or Toulouse. I'm not sure yet since I've never had them before. I was wondering were anyone had any good experience and I can order only 2 without a maximum amount to buy. I also would prefer somewhere closer the the New...

Ducklings first swim! And a small question.

I've been working on building the outside pen for the past couple of days for my ducks and today I'm going to be working on a gate and putting up the fencing around the base. There's a small grass area with a base around it that we used for our chickens which we reattached to the coop for the...

    Ducks and bees? :O

The past week I've been seeing a bee or two flying around my duck coop. I went in yesterday to get their waterer out to refill/rinse and I heard a low buzzing like I was inside a bee hive. I finished with the water and went to my dad who got out some bee spray or what have you lol and he found 1...

    Looking for some Goose Information

Hello; I'm a little interested in geese and may want one or two (most likely a pair) in a couple of months. I don't plan on looking until my ducks are grown but geese intrigue me and I was wondering what breed is good with ducks, friendly with people, and nice to look at. I've never had geese...

How long does it usually take for ducks to grow all their feathers?

Just curious since my ducklings are growing them already. Does it depend on the breed too? The runners seem to be growing faster as well as the Harlequins. The Pekin seems to barely have any feathers yet.

Any tips on bonding with ducks?

I recently got 6 ducklings who are a couple weeks old - they're living outside and growing their feathers. I handle them each every day to get them accustomed to it but they still huddle in a corner when I walk into the coop. Any advice on how they can become friendly other than being handled daily?

New duck momma, but A few questions?

Just a few days ago I became the owner of a pair of Welsh Harlequins, a pair of Runners, a Blue Swedish, and a crested Pekin. They're all growing their feathers at different paces seeing as I got them as older ducklings and they already live outside. We're making them a pond but I was wondering...
