So I was looking at my paint chicks before headin on vacation and I noticed one single black shaft in the center of the head puff. Right now it has white fluff coming out of it. Is that going to turn into a black feather? It is smack dabb in the center. They are just starting to get their...
Pure filth. I wouldn't even post a picture of a chicken that dirty. LOL. You should see my white hen that free ranges and likes to play in the mud. She is red/brown right now. He's a good looking boy.
My first thought was ....that's why you don't buy chickens at a gas station. Here wilco is a gas station but it sounds like a feed store from the other posts.
I have one silkie the runs with a flock of 15 large fowl (FBCM, Orpingtons, gold comets, rir). She holds her own. She even roosts 3 ft of the ground. The only issue is at one point she became the Roos favorite and the almost killed her. Peeled both of her sides off a 3"x3" area. She recovered...
Only was guessing on the last pic. I have both blue and cuckoos and from the pic it was hard to tell. The others came from segregated pens. The last one is a blue. Yes the white looking one has black spots on its back and tail.
Here a couple I phone pics of some of my new babies. A paint, porcelain, and I believe a self blue but hard to tell by pick and I don't remember which It is. It might be a cuckoo.
The pic definitely makes him look darker than he really is. He is actually a light silver color with hints of a light kahki showing down his back. These were iPhone pics in my poorly lit basement
I feel your pain. I had 9 from catdance and 8 from Geri Godina in mine at lockdown. Only 1 hatched. 16 fully developed chicks that didn't hatch. My only guess is too much humidity. It was 62-67%.
So I had some silkie eggs in the incubator. 17 made it to lock down but only one hatched. 5 pipped but never got out. One of those actually zipped 3/4 around the shell but never fully cut the membrane. I opened all the eggs and all were fully developed. 75% of them had about a half inch of air...
