hi, all i can tell you is mine are zipping and my temp is 100 to 101.5 back and forth.my humidity has been from 75 to 80% and they are doing fine so far. i think 70 to 75% would be better but, i put alittle too much water in mine lol. my bator is a little giant still air. hope this helps, good...
i had a single chick hatch too. and i put a cosmetic mirror in with mine and it thought it had another chick in with it. it calmed right down. you might try that, it helped mine not be so lonely.
mine are doing the same thing. no peeps, no pips and they are due today. all were moving around on the day of lockdown. temp 101f humid 74%. we will have to just wait it out i guess:/ let me know when yours hatches and ill let you know when mine do too ok? ill keep my fingers crossed for us...
thank you so much. as of this morning the chick is walking much better. it still falls some and rolls over on its back and then the others grab at its toes and feet. im watching them closely to say the least. thanks for the link also!
i just hatched 3 chicks that seem perfectly healthy but, one cant seem to stand up without rolling over on its back. its alittle smaller then the other two and its eyes dont seem to want to open up either. its the right leg that doesent work right. do you think it will recover from this? other...
i got two pipping this morning:weee!! now if i can just get my humidity down some,it shot up to 80% even with two wholes open:rant i have 5 exchequer leghorns. this is day 22. better late then never:thumbsup!
i had that problem once and i fixed that problem with a water baloon! cats hate to get wet,lol! plus it scared the begebers out of it. needless to say ,it never came back again!
just set my eggs at 8pm too! due dec, 14th. i hope mine turn out better this time then last. i have 5 exchequer leghorns. then i have mixed bantams on there way in the mail. iv had so much trouble keeping the temp and humidity in the right range. mostly my humidity kept dropping to 27-30% so...
i dont know if temp afects the humidity or not but, it sure seems like it does with mine. i finally got my temp set at 991/2 and holding,my humidity was at 4o% but its finally going down slow but sure to 38% hopefully that will be ok. iv hatched silkies and quil before at 60% and i didnt lose...
it was 50% and i found out on here it should be 35% so i took a towel and soped up the water out of the water wells. it took about 3 days for it to finally get down to that point. im on day 5 too so, theres still time to work out the kinks try not to worry. mine on the other hand could kill them...
i did the same thing last time and had 1 out of 12 hatch. but i read on byc to keep humidity down to 35% so im doing that now. but now i cant seem to get my temp under control! making me a nervous reck!!
