So...I'm sure that my hatch is a big zero

I had trouble with the humidity/temp this morning before I left for work, but I thought that I had it all straightened out when I left. Not so. When I got home this evening the temp was at 104*!!!!! I'm sure that it was like that almost all day...I'm so sad and just kicking myself for not staying home longer to REALLY see that things were okay this morning. So I did a cardinal no-no and did a quick open of the lid (about 10 seconds) to get a quick cool down and squirted water thru the little holes onto the sponges in hopes that the cooler water would also help the temp (humidity was fine). I'm back to 100* and I will NOT give up yet...although in my heart I'm sure it's fruitless...so sad:(
This is my first batch ever, so I guess that I will learn from this experience. I have 12 patiently waiting for their turn in lock down on the 20th, so I'm watching them VERY VERY CAREFULLY...

I'm having a difficult time with my first egg to pip it popped and started to suffocate so I chipped away a it of shell tonight. I'm checking on it every ten minutes! Oh the thrill, the shock and the worry of incubating.....

Thank you for your words of encouragement, Scarlett! I had the blooming thing regulated again by about midnight, CLOSED MY BEDROOM DOOR ('bator is in my bedroom, of course) and by this morning at 5 am it was at 104!!! I'm back to thinking I have it regulated again...given up all hope for the babies in their eggs

but I just can't bear to get rid of them yet. I consider it that I am regulating this 'bator for my 12 that will be going into it for lockdown next week. And I will leave my bedroom door OPEN at all times!!

If it's any consolation....I "hard boiled" a hatching chick on Sunday.

Moved two eggs that were pipping into an older Turn-x incubator that did not have an automatic turner. Prior to doing this a screw on the side of the lid loosened and fell into the motor and I had to take the entire top apart to get it out. In replacing the wafer thermostat I failed to align it correctly and thus the heat never turned down. When I checked the incubator an hour later it was over 110 degrees and both eggs were cooked. I opened one up and the chick was, of course, fully formed but dead.

Very sad but I suppose "c**p" happens.

I open my hatch to let the air flow in since I don't have a fan. I keep mine in the house, so it seems to do the trick. Only 1 egg from my last batch didn't peep or anything. The rest hatched and are doing fine. I am extremely sorry and will say a little prayer for you and your next lockdown.

at 8oclock itll be day 20 for mine. no peeps or pips yet, all is quiet in the bator. hope everything is fine:fl
