"I had trouble with the humidity/temp this morning before I left for work, but I thought that I had it all straightened out when I left. Not so. When I got home this evening the temp was at 104*!!!!!"
If it's any consolation....I "hard boiled" a hatching chick on Sunday.
Moved two eggs that were pipping into an older Turn-x incubator that did not have an automatic turner. Prior to doing this a screw on the side of the lid loosened and fell into the motor and I had to take the entire top apart to get it out. In replacing the wafer thermostat I failed to align it correctly and thus the heat never turned down. When I checked the incubator an hour later it was over 110 degrees and both eggs were cooked. I opened one up and the chick was, of course, fully formed but dead.
Very sad but I suppose "c**p" happens.
