Sounds like the humidity gave all the chicks birth defects. Although they are not as severe to cause them to die, it seems like that they have brain damage which may be causing the head-thrashing, lack of interest, and confusion.
Also, make sure Ashi can eat her food. If she has problems with...
not sure-- is it a full-sized or a bantam?????
hmm...maybe a Birchen Cochin..tho I don't see any tipped feathers yet....????
Or...could he be a mixed-breed???
: This is definately a great source to learn more about poultry! By the way, BYC has a sister site called "The Easy Garden " that may be of some help for your new garden as well! ^_^
I put them back together today and they all swarmmed around the two "chicks" who were inside for the night. The "Top Rooster" at this point , started to attack the pullet, "Scooter" (who we removed because she was being attacked). "Kashi" (the pullet keeping Scooter company) had bonded even more...
I had to seperate my 8-week-old chicks because one kept getting attacked and would never get a chance to eat. So I put her and her "Buddy", Kashi, In my room and the rest in a coop. I did this yesterday, and they both haven't stopped crying since.
What do I do? Will they get used to being...
Hi! I will try to make some hats, blankets, gowns, quilts etc... I can sew alot of different things, but I don't know how all you people can know how to knit. It's so confusing, LOL! Do you think I could also send some hand-made stuffed animals?
Wow! I love how you used the ring to make the wallpaper for the background. everything looks like they were origanaly like that. Doesn't look peiced together at all! I had to do that too, that stuff isn't easy. You did a wounderful job!

o.k. It will probably be the 8th or 9th then! I will be going up to my grandparents house for that week / weekend and they live in lansing, so it would be better then anyways!
Yeah, I just realized that is on a Monday! Alot of people have to work and it will be VERY crowded (especialy since it's free)! How about Saturday the 9th?
And about how much is the fee to get in?
Cool, thanks! I was thinking about having it on August 18...But if this date isn't convinient (like if someone is busy on that day, or if the park has no places open) I could always schedual it for the end of July. Like I said, I am new to Chickenstocks...so I will take ANY suggestions / help I...
montcapu...That would be great if you can check, since I live in Ludington wich is 2 hours away! Thanks Guitartists! I made this avatar in Paintshop Pro. How about having it 12:00pm-3:00pm? We could have a lunch cook-out / bbq.
I keep seeing Michigan Chickenstocks being planned...but they all become inactive or canceled! What about a Chickenstock in Lansing? We could meet at Lake Lansing Park in late August. Someone close to that area could reserve a Gazebo, and everyone can bring a dish to pass, bring things to sell...
First of all...
I agree with Sparrow. All ants contain acid...and some can make them sick. Also, with live food, I give my chicks "Chick Grit" to help them digest it. I give worms to my chicks...but their favorite snacks are small crickets. I buy the smallest crickets I can from the pet store...

It may also be the site you are using.
I would check his legs and thighs very closely. Even if there is no visable damage on the outside, he could have sprained or pulled muscles or tendons in his legs. If his legs seem sore (like if he cries and fusses when you touch it) Put him away from other roosters so they dont further hurt...
I gave my 5-week-old chicks some yogurt this morning, and they ate it like there was no tomarrow!
But in the process, everyone got sticky, and now their feathers are hard and covered in pine shavings! Is it safe to give them a bath? If so, how do I go about doing it on something so small? (They...
