There's not a place in your house that hasn't at least temporarily housed a brooder You sold excess Christmas decorations at a garage sale because you wanted the tub they were in to serve as a brooder You move from one town to another and before you research schools, grocery stores, or crime...

Can I transform this dog run to a coop/run?

Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing it too. I'm building a simple screen door out of lumber and wire to go on it. The door is 2 feet wide and is only going to be 5 feet tall, so its a small duck in and out, but the center beam is 6 feet, so there's room for me to move around inside with...

Can I transform this dog run to a coop/run?

Good catch Tac. You could add an 8 post in each of the two corners by the gate, and then run chicken wire or poultry netting over and around from it to the coop. You could also scrap the current fence and do something different in its place. I'll attach a picture of the coop I'm in the process...

Can I transform this dog run to a coop/run?

Oh most definitely! Having a decent portion of the work already done for you is certainly nice. It looks as if you'll have to take some precautions when it comes to predator-proofing. I'd recommend lining the inside of the fence with welded wire or chicken wire. It'll take some work and a little...

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I don't have a huge preference. My previous hens were americanas, rirs, Sussex, and a mix of red and black hybrids, and out of those I loved the Rhode Island reds the most. I'd be interested in trying some buff orpingtons too. I'd like to find some older pullets or hens already laying to start...

Hey Everyone! I'm a recent transplant to Altus, Ok from East Texas. I had chickens in my back yard there, but sold them about a year ago in order to rehab our back yard before renting the house out. I'm about to build a coop and get a few chickens back into our yard hear. Any Altus/SW Oklahoma...

    Massive Yellow Mass in Eye

This morning a chicken came out of the coop walking a little funny. I picked her up to look her over, but smelled the problem almost as soon as I saw it. Now...what problem am I seeing/smelling. Is this Coryza? A bacteria infection in her eye? I put her on a broad spectrum anti-biotic, but still...

Ended Tell Us Your Funniest Chicken Story to Win Six Bags of Feed from Nutrena!

I had been grilling, what else, chicken. Once I finished I left the grill top open to clean and cool. The next morning I came outside and lo and behold, one of our young red star pullets had escaped her coop and was sitting, happily clucking away, on the grates of the grill. I laughed and told...

Hey Everyone! Hope the summer has treated your flocks better than last summer. I'm currently working on a 8 year- plan (I'm 25) to get my wife and I mortgage free. I am going this weekend to look at a 7 acre heavily wooded piece of property. Plan is to purchase and use on-property resources and...

Celebration! I found student at a local private school who's family raises chickens that wanted them. The roosters are going to a much better place than even I can provide here. Good things still happen.

So the thing I've known was coming happened today. One of the older ladies in the neighborhood who is always very particular about how other people keep their yards, park their cars, place their trashcans, etc., left a city ordinances flyer in my door about my crowing roosters (that i'm trying...

Hey! Yeah they're still laying quite well. The others I had bought elsewhere started up a couple weeks after i got those and so I haven't bought eggs since then. Out of the 5 I have laying, I've been getting 30 +- a week. Raising chicks has been a rewarding experience too, I just wish I had land...

I raised six bantams from Atwoods this spring just for fun. The only problem is that now some have started crowing. I'm located inside the city of Tyler in east texas and need the crowing ones to go. Currently have a silkie roo and a oegb roo. Thought i had the oegb sold but haven't heard back...

There's no way you'd break a rule under any circumstance, unless it's the city one that limits the number of chickens you can have

I don't know of a specific place, but you might try the smaller towns around, like Comfort. I'd recommend calling a feed store there. May have good info

I have two 12 week old bantams (one pullet, one cockrel) that I believe are(but hey, I could definitely be wrong) Porcelain OEGB's. As of right now, the boy hasn't started letting his voice be heard, but as I am inside the city limits, as soon as he does he'll have to go. Is anyone interested...
