Yes, it would. But, at your local farm store or TSC they should have mineral and digestive grits for chicks, which is better to use then sand.

I tried to avoid Newspaper because it's super slick for the baby chicks feet. You should try paper towel or wood shavings. Pine Wood shavings smell delicious and masks the smell very well and it is easier to clean out.

Yes, 63f is way too cold for baby chicks (even too cold for me, lol ) The temp. should be around 80f for that age of chicks. How is their poop? If the poop is watery then that means they're cold. Try to get the heat lamp a little closer to them, or you could get a stronger bulb.

Haha, they're marbles. You put large marbles into their waterer so that they cant drown. Plus, the chicks love to peck at wildly colored ones :) anyways, those chicks are so adorable! they look so beautiful, and healthy! Kudos to you! :)
