I've had about 4 calls in the past week or two where the people did not leave me a number to call them back. Our caller ID doesn't work. So now our message asks people to leave a number if they want a call back.

I use the $10 Walmart thermometer with humidity and temperature reading that records highs and lows for the past 24 hours. I set it on the top shelf of my cabinet incubator for a few days, then will move it to the top of the hatching tray for a few days. They usually last about a year for me and...

If you are moving to Fayetteville, Woodard's grocery in Lynchburg is closer to you. They sell Tucker feed cheaper than anywhere else. I bought chick starter there this week for under $10/50# bag. You call in an order by Monday morning and pick it up on Weds. Our birds do fantastic on Tucker.

As far as I know, there isn't a Woodbury swap scheduled this spring. Emily always calls me a few months ahead of time to help get the word out and I haven't heard from her since last spring.

I tried growing determinate tomatoes in the black mineral tubs one year....made the drain holes, put gravel on the bottom, etc. They grew like crazy and once they got big enough to really start producing, they all burned up. The black tubs get *really* hot, filled with dirt, in the summer sun.

Two of my calico hens started laying last week-end. I'm anxious to put them in the incubator and see if they're fertile yet! Last year I didn't get any turkey eggs until late February, I think. The color pattern is 'cuckoo' and is very rare in silkies. I breed cuckoo and barred silkies. 'Sizzle' usually refers to a Frizzled Bantam Cochin/Silkie cross, and I would agree that this guy looks more like a Sizzle than a pure Silkie.

Maybe it's a smooth sizzle? (Silkie/Bantam Cochin cross). They usually have a little crest though. How many toes on each foot?

I incubate peas at the same temp and humidity as my chicks and turkeys with good success...but I don't dry incubate at all- usually 45-60% humidity until lock down and then a little higher. Always lay pea eggs on their side...I lay them in the flat tray on a soft clean towel or puppy pad, and...
