Hen won't eat, drink, and has no feathers on her belly. Help!

Really? Just broody? Even though she won't eat or drink?

Hen won't eat, drink, and has no feathers on her belly. Help!

Astralorpe hen, had been broody, picked her up yesterday, she came out and hung out with the girls for a while, was acting fine, then today, I pulled her out of the box again, trying to help her break her broodiness, and felt her belly. She had no feathers. I flipped her over, her vent is...

Broody hen not turning eggs then abandoning them?

I couldn't find a thread with a similar question, so I'm asking now. I allowed one of my hens who goes broody ALL the time, to sit two eggs. When I candled them(honestly don't know what day, I forgot to date the eggs, my bad) they were mostly dark inside and were heavy. So I stuck them back...

    Aggressive Roo

Yeah, if I'd been really attached to him, I suppose I could've left him in the coop and run always and never let him out with the girls, but I find that to be a different form of cruelty, he'd never really get to be a chicken.

    Aggressive Roo

I appreciate the input, if I didn't have kids that lived around me I would consider it, but I also don't see a reason to put my animals and myself in danger just to spend months attempting to gentle a rooster that could possibly never be gentled. Plus, my chickens don't freerange unless I'm...

    Aggressive Roo

HAHA!!! I like that phrase. I'm not sure, I may try, I am going to cook him no matter what, perhaps we'll see if he's tasty or not before he goes to the dogs.

    Aggressive Roo

It's more along the lines of, I don't think I can eat him. But I'll copy the recipe, maybe I'll give him to my parents for dinner or something. Thank you!

    Aggressive Roo

Thanks guys, I needed to hear it from people more experienced with chickens than myself, this is still my first flock. My friend's coming over to cull him at 2, she says he'll be too tough to eat, but I figure I'll cook him up and give my dogs a nice treat tonight, especially my spurred...

    Aggressive Roo

I don't mind having to cull him, I'm just saying that I can't do it personally. And he's a BIG rooster. He stands as high as my hip, I'm 5'3", I was told he was an EE, but honestly, most people look at him and say there's no way, he's a Leghorn. As for all the things you've said besides...

    Aggressive Roo

Hi all, you've been wonderful and I'm on this forum all the time. However, this is the first time I've posted in probably over 6 months, and it has to do with the same reason I originally posted: My rooster. Over the last two weeks or so, my roo has been displaying some aggression. He's a...

    Barred Rock pullet or roo?

    Okay, good. Whew.

    Barred Rock pullet or roo?

HAHA! Well, since she's the only one seriously standing up to him, that's why I worry, besides the pointy tail feathers.

    Barred Rock pullet or roo?

Sorry, I hate to bump an old thread, but I'm starting to worry again about my Barred Rock, supposedly pullet, again. She's 9 weeks old this week, and every time my roo tries to dominate her (he's kind of a bully, he'll be leaving soon), she turns around and goes head to head with him, kicking...

ARGH! Saddle feathers on an EE?

Ok, so all EE's colored this way are pullets?

ARGH! Saddle feathers on an EE?

Oh, yeah, hers are all rounded, she's just so much more feathered out than my other pullet EE, who is OBVIOUSLY a pullet, that I was getting worried.

ARGH! Saddle feathers on an EE?

Ok. That's a load off my mind, thank goodness. Should have 4 pullets and a roo. Thank you all so so sooooo much. Oh, does anyone know who I can buy some light brahmas from on this site? I see people recommending that people buy their chicks from people on here...
