I'm still using the light for them... My husband thinks it's too cold out for them because they're only 6 months old. I'm wondering if we'll now need the light through the winter.
Wow, we're still new at keeping chickens and I'm amazed all these awesome treat ideas! I can't wait to try some of these and see if our girls love them too!
I just wanted to see how your girl healed up.. What things worked that you found to help her heal better?
One of mine got pecked apart pretty bad yesterday to the point my husband thought she probably wouldn't make it. We have her in a new dog crate and cleaned her wounds with saline and...
Thank you so much.. My husband got her cleaned up and she "seems" comfortable. She's snuggled up in a blanket after her struggling to get away when he cleaned her up. Hopefully that's a good sign.
My husband just brought her inside to get her away from the others and he's not sure if she's going to make it.. I'm so heartbroken.. She (and the rest) is only 6months old. I think she's in shock right now because she's got her eyes closed. My husband draped a blanket over her for now, but...
Thank you! Yes, we think he's very pretty.. Keeps changing still! We got our bunch from Ideal. We were suppose to get a couple of Wyandotte's but don't think any of them were those.. His legs are grey and originally he was all grey and now he's got all the beautiful shiny black feathers...
Sorry, it may help if I spelled it right lol.. yes, sort of an extra set.. now looking at some pics of grown up chickens I see that some sort of have this smaller looking ones too the side. Maybe that's what it is?
Does a double wattle growing on our 6 week old chick mean male? We've been trying to figure out the breed on this little one for a while as it's so different from all our others but now has this double waddle growing.. I'll have to try and get a pic sometime but this one's also getting sort of...
Thanks so much for your post!
We are using a red light but I will double check if it's a 75. We upgraded them already to a large feeder and waterer. I'm wondering if the perches may help. My husband found that now several have missing tail feathers.. Should we take out all the aggressive...
Since we're new to the whole chick / chicken keeping, we're not sure if this is normal. I'm worried about a couple of our little ones because they have bare spots on their backs as if there is some fighting going on. One is missing some of her new little tail feathers. I think they are too...
We are totally new to having chicks / chickens and just got our first batch a week ago from Ideal (after reading a bunch of people on here used them and had positive things to say) and so far our experience has been very good. All of our chicks made it safely and are doing very well. They...
