    Harvesting Chickens Year Round

I understand that harvesting a chicken by a certain age is idea, but what if I wanted to keep a flock of chickens year round and harvest them a few at a time during the year that might be 6 months to a year old, would the taste/quality be that much different for the worse than if I harvested...

Another positive note she was able to hop up and perch on top of the container. My wife found him "happily" sitting on the ledge.

    Can she chickens organs....

When I cleaned her this morning for the first time I noticed a smell, but not overwhelming. Can I get antibiotics from a vet, "over the counter"? On a positive note, she is moving around more and eating and drinking. Thanks, Bryan

    Eat a predator killed chicken.

I have dead hen that a predator got last night. I woke up early and heard it happening and scared it off, but not before the bird was killed and its head... well eaten off. The rest of the body is fine and looks pretty good. It was partially froozen when I found him when the sun came up...

Mine do not seem to care one way or the other.

Hens butchered today-do you ever get used to it?

For me I never find it pleasant but I try to do it quick. Unlike the "Chicken Lady" where she seems to draw it out.

    Cook after harvest

Hello, I searched for answer but I could not find anything that really answered by question. I harvested a five month old rooster today and would like to use it for soup tomorrow. Would it be better to not use this one and take one out the freezer? If I can use it would it be better to boil...

Raising meat birds in the Fall

Hello, I am interested in raising meat birds in the fall and harvest around Thanksgiving. Any concerns I should have? I live in NY. It should not be too bad weather wise? Would Red Rangers be better than Cornish X Rocks? Thanks, Bryan

    First time after thoughts...

Second and third time this morning. Picking the feathers was a little easier this time. I think they are nice looking birds. 7.4 and 7.6 each. they were Delaware/RIR crosses.
