    I have a chicken with an amputated wing. I picked up some stuff at my local farm supply store called vetericyn wound & infection care. It's a spray. I'm trying to avoid penicillin unless there is an infection. Has anyone used this?

    She spent all day in the coop. Hasn't made any noise and not moving. Just standing in the same spot if front of the waterer. Still not eating but atleast the other birds are leaving her alone.

    Ive never had a roo, but I have noticed that no matter how tame my hens are they still put up a little bit of a fight when I try to catch/pick them up. They love to be held and petted but something tells them they are wild and its not natural to just stand there and let a human pick you up...

    I work full time managing a business, so I am up around 6-630. On the weekends I still get up almost that early because I have young children who are used to my schedule.

    Ya, chickens will peck at anything that peaks their interest. The way my coop is built, they can't get at the weather stripping. You might try giving them some sort of toy to keep them entertained.

    Mites, that's a good possibility! Also, have you sprayed anything on your lawn or plants? Or maybe. A crop duster spraying a field close by? Have they gotten into any rotting fruits? Like apples?

    My First Egg!!

    My leghorn layed her first egg today to. She screamed like she was in labor! The very first egg that I found was like Christmas, I was so excited! And every day since is like easter. Go out every morning and look for eggs. :)
