So today I go into the "chick room" to go get something and one of my chicks is flapping around, twisting and turning violently, like she's having some sort of seizure. she'd lost all control and was just flailing, flipping out all over. I picked her up and she stopped and was still tense and...
Hmm... we dont get that much wind over here, and I will add some sort of floor to part of the coop and i can always figure something out to make it sturdy.
Could I use welded wire? Hardware cloth is quite expensive and i would have to use tons of it. I already have some welded wire around, too...
i was wondering with a few improvisions, i could use plans for a cheap diy greenhouse for a chicken coop+run combo for a flock of 20-25.

I'm not sure what wire I would use, although we have tons of spare wire laying around. About 1/3 or...
thanks for both of the replies, also, ki4got, that is a BEAUTIFUL cochin! for some reason my dad doesn't want them because of the muddy feet.... althoug i'll probably stick a fluffy footed wonder into the order anyways.
i have a question for cochin owners.
i'm thinking about ordering a couple of blue cochins because they seem to be such sweet and cute little birds!
although, i am concerned about one thing. i live in southwestern washington, and we get rain. lots of it. any washington/oregon user...
Thanks! Yeah, I have heard that wyandottes CAN tend to be a little meaner than some breeds, but it's all in the genetics and way I raise them, I suppose. I'm super excited to get some BLRWs, though. And I'm excited for... Well, all of them! c:
Here is my order so far. I know there are tons of breeds but I haven't ordered it yet, I just wanted to get some quantities out there and put down some breeds I wanted. Are there any breeds on the list that would go badly in a multibreed flock, or any terribly flighty/aggressive breeds?
For...
I live around the battleground/vancouver area in southwestern washington. I've looked around for chicken food brands online such as blue seal, kent, etc., but those aren't sold anywhere near our area(nearest location was in california.... nope, not going there every month, haha!). Anyways, I...
yes, but when i bought from them ALL of my chickens but the wyandottes(who DID turn out gorgeous) were undersized, and my rooster had a wing deformity so he couldn't fly or stretch that wing out very much at all.
I really want to get some chicks for 2014, although I'm not sure where to get them. I don't need show quality birds but decent looking, health birds are a must have, obviously. I only have four(a bunch of predators scavenged out hens a while ago... :c) now, and I want to get to having around 15...

We buy a lot of sweet mini peppers and I love them, but I don't eat the tops of them or the seeds so I was wondering if I could toss them to my chickens. The peppers also have lots of vitamin A and C in there so I was thinking it would be a good idea. ^^

I plan on doing a bit of spring cleaning soon. In my coop, some dust has accumulated in the cracks and corners. The roosts have a small layer of crusty mud on them, probably from chickens coming in with dirty feet. There's some stains on the wooden walls, etc.
Anyways, got any spring cleaning...
