So Sorry Cuties! That is tough. I just had a friend that lost 3 goats due to smoke inhalation. His chickens and goats share a barn, there was a small fire in it on Saturday. He was able to get all of the goats and most of the chickens out but by Sunday all 3 had passed. :(

Hi Everyone!!! Well here is an update on the chick situation. Out of the 35 we received, 10 didn't make it. So hard to tell which breed is which, so I will just have to wait until they are a little older before I know. I contacted the hatchery and just asked for a refund. I just cannot handle...

HI everyone! Sorry that it has been so long. Hope you all are doing well!! I have some questions for you all. So I ordered chicks from a hatchery a month ago, and received them last week. We had 2 DOA and within two days we had only 6 out of 15 left. They would all be fine and then all of the...

Hey everyone! I haven't been on here in awhile. I am in need of help. One of my bantams flew over our fence last Sunday, we couldn't find her. Today my neighbor showed up and said she had our chicken! We were surprised she made it in this cold by herself. Anyway I went to check on her tonight...

Hi Vicki - Thanks for the condolences. He was only 66. He had AML. He was diagnosed back in August of last year. Went through all the chemo and the last biopsy that they did in March showed ZERO leukemic cells. The doctor was shocked that it came back so quickly. They gave him 3 different...

Hey everyone! Hope you are all doing well. Haven't been on here in awhile, lots of newbies! :) Wondering if anyone one would be interested in a black Cochin fizzle bantam rooster?! I need to find him a home ASAP since I am not allowed to have roosters where I live. He is waking the neighbors...

Thanks everyone for your thoughts about sand vs. pine shavings, etc. in the coop! I might just stick with the pine shavings. For those of you that live in the Wausau area, where do you get yours from? Fleet Farm? Anyone have any tips on building a coop? What to do/not to do? How high...

I have heard that sand is easier to clean...you just scoop up the messes everyday, kinda like a cat's litter box, but IDK if anyone else has tried this. We will see I guess!

I am in need of your opinions. Who here uses sand in their coop vs. pine shavings, etc? Which one do you like better? Why? Trying to figure out my plans for my coop and I have read that sand is great and cheaper in the long run vs. the pine shavings. Also its not suppose to hold the...
