I have 5 Easter Eggers and they are becoming a passion of mine! Not only are their colors unique but so are their personalities! Each one is different and I love the large colorful eggs! Most of my EEs are friendly to humans and enjoy being pampered but when it comes to introducing new chickens...

    New Coop- new ideas?

Hello! I'm wondering what is the best type of flooring to put in a 10x20ft coop my husband and I just built for our chickens? It cost us about $1,000 but it's totally worth it. We where thinking sand but I wanted to see what everyone else is using for large coops like ours. Also because it's...

    is my pullet not?

For sure the second one is a roo but it's hard to tell on the BO unless you have closer pictures. Check the saddle feathers if they are pointy then its a roo if its more fluffy and rounded then its a pullet.

    Do I have a rooster?

Check the saddle feathers! If it's a roo they are going to be pointy and if a pullet they will be fluffier and rounded :) I have 2 EE same age as yours their names are Cinnamon and Raisin :)

    Need help sexing Aracuana chicks

Hard to tell at this point in age but they look like Aracaunas so you should have some pretty eggs :) When they get a little older you can tell by looking at the saddle feather. If they are pointy they are most likely roos if they are more fluffy and rounded then it's a hen :) Hope this helps!

I absolutley love my Buff! She is the friendliest chicken out of all my breeds. She even loves my collie. She is very smart and will let anyone hold her. She is also very friendly with all of the other chickens and I feel like I could introduce any chicken and she would welcome them. The only...

My Blue laced wyandotte was beautiful! She gave 6 eggs a week and began laying at 5 months. Unfortunatley she had a prolapsed rectum and after multiple vet visits she never recovered. :(

New Coop: Looking for new ideas or any advice!

My husband and I just bought a small hobby farm and where excited to add chickens to the family. The house we bought came with a small coop and this spring we are going to build a very large coop. It will be about 10ft wide by 20 ft long with a large enclosed garden with a pond that the chickens...

    Austrolorp rooster?

Yeah I would say Roo. I had a 5 month RIR that we thought was a hen but then it started to grow long tail feathers and crow. Had a comb and wattles like a hen but your looks like mine did at about 4-5months.

    Austrolorp rooster?

How old is this one? Her saddle feather do seem pointy.
  18. savery

Think these are roo's or pullet's?

Look at the saddle feathers. Hens tend to have very fluffy rounded feathers and roosters will have feathers with a sharper point. :) I had a RIR that I though was a hen and then at 5 months old it started to grow long tail feathers and crowed and turned out she was a he :)
