    duckling nibbles?

we have hatched out 12 ducklings, only one needed and got any help, and that is the only one who nibbles like crazy. When he snuggles into my neck, hair, or hand he just goes crazy with nibbles. The others SOMETIMES give a few little ones, but they dont really sunggle, not like Black Beauty (a...

Waiting for the egg to burst!!

That's duckling one of seven so far! All doing well. However I'm not sure there's room for them in there. There were 15 eggs. Side by side. And then after hatching, most eggs have remained near whole. The ducklings are so large the can't stand between the eggs and ceiling. Should we take them...

So, as a few of you know, we have been incubating 16 duck eggs. (Rouen, Blue Swedish, and Cayuga). Well this AM they began piping! Its so exciting :) Those little sneaks refuse to give me the slightest glimpse of movement out of their eggs though. Other than one that we wrote "fiesty" on the...

Interested in a duck... but I need advice?

the thing I would be worried about most is that ducks need to roam around, a variety of foods (not necessary for survival but is healthier for them) but most of all they need access to water. water deep enpough for them to bathe in and eat with. and they make a MESS. they are lovely little...

Thanks, thats what I was thinking. As long as its not the only thing to forage on they prob wouldn't bother with it. But my luck nature taking its course would leave me with 15 little duck caskets :)

    Toxic Plants

Does everyone make sure to rid their property of any toxic plants before letting their ducks range? I'm particularly concerned with morning glories b/c that is one farm favorite that I know is toxic to ducks. So just curious, do they tend to have better things to do while out ranging than pick...

Free range ducks- How far do they roam?

Looking to hear from anyone who lets their ducks out daily, how far do you find them roaming? We have 20 acres, a little over half irrigated in the summer months. I won't mind them traveling out to spend time in the sprinklers, but I am concerned with how far they might go from the relative...
