Reapted use can aciditfy the soil, but if it gets to acidic you can add wood ashes to level it back out. I'm wonder ing if it 's the nitrgen levels that make to acidic. To much nitrogen CAN burn your plants. I'm glad that this was pointed out because of what I had read in Mother Earth News too...

I'm using egg shell grit but Quack-Quack eats the sand used to level his pool more than the grit. I've also starting putting scratch dowwn in the grass cause the worm, slug and bug count has been low out in the yard.
