I am new to this incubation thing so I have a few questions. My first set was 18 Silkie eggs, ended up with 3 healthy chicks. My next was 10 Guinea eggs, I ended up with 5 healthy babies.Next came 14 Silkie eggs, I ended up with 4 healthy babies (born with multi-day span in hatching). My babies...
I had to take the liners out! He was having a hard time pushing all the way out!! I was scared! I hope me opening it didn't hurt any of the others. I waited until he was out of the shell to open it.
I was hoping the cupcake liners would help keep the bator clean but now I am wondering it they are stopping him/her from pushing the egg completely off!!!
Question: If the bator is on lock down how do I get him out when he is dry without disturbing the others??
We have about 7 acres set aside for farm on our 21 acre place. 11 of it are still wooded... for now lol. I want cows next, so glad my hunny can't see this lol.
A few months ago I told my husband that I was ready to start a farm, so a friend gave me 2 trios of beautiful full grown silkies (this is all I needed for fresh eggs for my baking). Before I picked them up I decided I wanted some babies too soooo I bought 6 red pullets and ummmm 3 rabbits (one...
I am so excited. I set our first batch of eggs in the incubator on 5/8. And when I say first batch of eggs that is literally what I mean! We just got started here at DAF and I decided I wanted to incubate right away. Today, I have pipping and peeping in my bator! I'm so excited!!!
As a first time chicken owner, I decided to incubate some eggs soooo on the 8th I put 18 Silkie eggs in the bator. No big deal, that was easy. The next day, DH says we need some guineas so I found me 10 guinea eggs, let's just add them to the bator. Ok all is good until I start researching...
This is my first for ducks..... and chickens.... and rabbits.... We have 6 Silkies (grown), 18 Red Pullets (not yet laying), 2 mallards, and 2 New Zealand/California rabbits. I dove in head first to the farming business lol. I have noticed a difference in their voices. Maybe I have a pair which...
I have a Silkie that is sitting on 14 eggs! I know not all of them are hers but she was trying to sit 2 nests so I moved them all to one and she hasn't got back on any other nest. Now for my questions lol. I want to candle my eggs to see what's going on. She has been sitting them for about a...
The feed store called them red production but a friend said they look a lot like cinnamon queens. What do you think? Same chicks at different ages. Also, what roo would you put with them?
What do I do?? I put a leg band on her to make sure she is the one doing all the sitting and sure enough, she is! There are 2 other laying age hens in the coop. They are all silkies.
I am so new at this and a friend says I am worrying myself too much lol
