Hi everyone,
I have just lost my last 2 ducks ( female and a drake muscovy), 2 silkies and a mixed breed to what i believe was a fox. As I never had trouble with foxes before til now( I live in the suburbs) What does everyone use to lay under their coops? normal chicken wire or wire with...
Hi,
On saturday my ducks and chickens were attacked by something thinking a fox... I lost 2 ducks and one silkie. The two remaining muscovy ducks a drake and a girl are injured they survived the first 24 hours but now has green watery poop. They are eating and drinking, they are in lockdown...
Hope everyone had a good chrissy and new years. Just a quick question how long do ducklings stay on duck starter for before moving onto the next level of feed? My pet stores dont stock duckling food so got to order at least 3 weeks in advanced. The little one is only 6 days old so got plently of...
that what I did. it was fully formed but had not consumed the yolk, and little duckling that did hatch died... poor little thing was snuggled against the wall of the coop outside the nest and yet she still insists on siting on the nest. At the end a complete fail hatch.
Lost internal pipper and it looks like the other two have gone too. ... i think they have anyway they havent progessed at all. Is there a ring you can see at the late stages?
She is sitting there just not sure abut the colour of the airsac in this first pic above post and second looks a weird shape like it has shrink wrapped or something
This one looks like it has internally pipped.
This one i am concerned about I didnt see any movement few that short time I took to candle I am not sure if that is the right shape. Could i put i little whole in the top to check?
i will watch for little one eating and drinking within 72 hours. So should I candle to see whats happening? Whats your advice once it hits that 48 hour mark?
Just a question for anyone that has hatched under a duck/chicken I have one that hatched already but there seems to be no hatching happening with the other eggs. Although all 3 were there all at the same time and seem to grow at the same rate except for one which she stole about a week of so...
While still waiting for my ducklings to hatch....Yesterday I found this big bugger of an egg under my trying to brood silkie.
But others next to it for comparison.
Hi first time allow a duck to hatch some eggs, her eggs are at day 35 but ducks still havent broken into the airsac but are really pushing against it as you can see a shadow in the airsac when candling. How long would others leave them before intervening? They are still alive at the moment.
My black and white scovie duck gibbs is sitting on eggs...they are about 28 days in but they do have a little poop on them as she will not get off those eggs as far as i have seen. Should I clean them if so with what? Or will duckies be fine? This pic was taken a few days ago.
I am concerned about one of the eggs that one ailkie us sitting on. Even though she is isolated from the others one eggs shell has a what looks like a dents and is cracked... i dont think it has broken into where the baby is but still worried about infections getting into the little thing...
Ok so one egg did take.... apparently miss lazy wasnt sitting properly for the first week. I have no clue who the egg belonged to but what are the possibilities i could get from what looked like a splash roo and white or a splash roo with a black with a bit of brown or silver?
Thats the roo
