Thank you for responding. She is a lavender split and I have heard if a breed her with a lavender roo she will produce lavender chicks. I think I will have someone looks closer at her features you suggested and if all is good, I will start my search for a high quality lavender roo. Do you...
So, sorry you lost one. I have lost a couple and it is heart wrenching. My boss at work laughed at me because I was so sad. People that don't own chickens just don't get it.
Wow, hatching my own... that is something that I haven't done yet. Next Spring I am going to try to mate my newest...
That is fine. I love chatting about chickens.
I don't think it will hurt them, but it have read that they need the extra nutrition of layer pellets to lay consistently.
We leave a light on in winter and they lay all year.
I have a lavender girl that looks like her. All my silkie Roos have long feathers that look like streamer coming out of the back of there crest. They are long and go down the back of their necks.
Yes, it crowed for about an hour straight. It is also trying to jump on any chicks back that gets near him. I am allowed to have a rooster here, but I already have a nice silkie roo. If I find the other white one is a roo too, that would be 3 Roos. I would find homes for both the white ones.
She is beautiful. Mine do not have any crest at all, that is what made me think they are a mix. Unfortunately found out yesterday that one is a roo....and they both might be. Not sure what to do if they are both Roos.
They have 5 toes...but they are huge...larger than my black astrolaurps and buff Orpingtons. I got them at Tractor Supply. Learned my lesson, never again!
