I have had a couple times that I have found the temperature too high. But it hasn't happened for long periods. I might keep it at 99-100 this time and not 101?
I have incubated three batches of eggs.
I have read up on temps, humidity and everything!
Everytime I do my lockdown on day 18, I get one or two hatched on day 19, maybe another on day 20. Then NOTHING.
I have cracked the eggs after day 25 passes and almost every egg has a fully developed...
Hey y'all. I wanna add catfish feed to my chicken feed to protein. But I don't know if I should because I have some younger chickens in the coop (range 2-5 months). Would it hurt the younger chickens
See. Mine have been barely laying. But I bought some from a guy and he was supplementing with...
So.. my Americaunas just would not lay!! I tried a light.. they have free choice feed, oyster shell, and water.. they free range quite a bit as well..
Finally.. I put plastic golf balls in their laying boxes.. and yesterday.. one egg.. today another..
I hope this is a new trend.. little...
Okay.. so I worked with my dogs and for more than a month now I could let the chickens out and not worry about the dogs. They would just walk around with the chickens like they are friends. Well today I found one injured and one dead. Not even small ones!! I was just sick and depressed about...
I will! I gave them some bread today and it was the funniest thing.. they were feuding and snatching bread.. then walking around clucking like they were proud of themselves for their loot!
i got a nice timer from walmart for $5.00
I have it to where my chickens will get light for about 18 hrs a day.. is that too much? do they need more darkness?
hope this isn't rude.. but it is a roosting question..
we have a roost we built and it is in the outside coop.. but the "bedroom" does not have a roost.. of course there are wooden rails and the free range rooster roosts there.. but the hens do not. should we build a roost for the "bedroom"...

I just can't say no.. started with a big grower coop.. then the old chicken coop we rebuilt.. put...
I love my bantam cochins. They make me smile every time I go out into the barn. I don't know which color is my favorite. They are so sweet. And yes the roosters are feisty.. the most feisty is my partridge roo.. when he was young he would fly up just to nip at us.. it never hurt and it...
About 1.5 months. Buff orpingtons and 2 month old bantam buff Cochins. No symptoms.
That's why it's so weird. All my wyandottes, other color Cochins are just fine. Haven't lost a one.
Okay. This is so weird. All I have lost since it started getting cool is buffs. All 5 of my buff Cochins and about 10 young buff orpingtons.
I have quite a few other colors and breeds of different colors.
Any thoughts?
