    Golden Comet/ Buff Orpington Cross

Has anyone ever crossed the Buff to a Golden? I was wondering how they would be for meat birds. I was hoping the Buff would put some size to them. I just hatched out 6 from this cross hoping to use them as a meat bird.

I have 7 in the Brinsea mini advanced. Five of the chicks have hatched around 2 pm today. I now have 2 that are pipping. I moved the incubator and the cover came off for a split second. Collecting eggs from one hen.

My Golden Comets have just started laying so the eggs are still small. However, I have one New Hampshire red that is 2 years old. She's pretty reliable to produce an egg a day. Can I just collect one egg a day from her until I get 6 eggs to incubate. If I am understanding right they don't start...

    No eggs in 3 weeks!

I just wormed her 3 days ago. I thought maybe that could be the reason for no eggs. If by chance it was, how long after worming would the usually start laying again.

    No eggs in 3 weeks!

Still no eggs. It's not a great picture but I think you can tell the color of her comb. Do you think it's red enough so she should be laying eggs? She used to squat when I got next to her but she doesn't do that now.

    Need help identfying my chickens.

We lost 3 of our chickens do a dog so I went and bought these pullets. They said they were 2 Buff Orpintons and a NH Red. The one NH Red I have left doesn't look at all like this one. That's why I am in question. I should have known better than to buy them where I did but was a little flustered...

    No eggs in 3 weeks!

About 3 weeks ago a dog got 2 of my 3 hens. They were 6 months old New Hampshire Reds. We replaced the two with young pullets and were told they were about 4 months. But I'm not so sure about that. My hen hasn't layed an egg since the attack. She and the duck have bonded though. She is ok with...

Chickens taking fake eggs out of nest

My girls started doing the laying down thing when I get close. I've heard they are getting close to laying. When I put them away at night they go to the perch. But when I go out in the mornings they have taken the fake eggs out of the nest or bury them in the straw. Does this mean they lay...
