Incubating/hatching eggs as school project questions

Thanks all. I removed the turner and added another water trough. The humidity is up from 55% to 65%. These eggs are the product/s of a Welsh Harlequin female and either a Pekin or Cayuga male.

Incubating/hatching eggs as school project questions

School called and one egg has pipped externally so I removed the turner and added more water. The pip is a little bloody - any concerns? Should the other eggs still be manually turned through Friday as they aren't due until the 26th? Thanks

Incubating/hatching eggs as school project questions

My daughter's school is hatching chicks and ducks - the chicks are all done and the ducks are due 4/26 (set on 3/29). As of yesterday two ducks had pipped internally. Are they early? Should I remove the auto turner and bump the humidity?

No eggs for two days - should I be worried?

Thanks for the replies. They get locked up at night so nothing could have gotten it. I usually find the eggs in the same spot of the duck house every morning when I let them out. They do free-range all day and I have checked her usual spot in the yard and found nothing. She's acting normal...

    Cayuga Ducks? Info anyone??

Hi there, We are in the Philadelphia area and have 3 ducks. One female Welsh Harlequin, one male Pekin and one male Cayuga. The Cayuga, Loki, is by far my favorite. Loki is beautiful and while all of them will hand feed, he is the only one of the three to socialize. He was hatched with...

Welsh Harlequin drake offered - maybe two - Philadelphia area

We hatched some ducks for pets/eggs on April first and ended up with FOUR boys and ONE girl. I am looking to re-home the two WH drakes for sale or trade.

HELP ASAP baby duck arching backwards and falling over

Quote: I concur. My Cayuga duckling had wry neck and after coddling it with poly-vi-sol, brewer's yeast and vit E he's fine. As an added benefit, he's the friendliest after all the extra handling. He never fell over but he moved funny until it resolved. Good luck!

Four drakes and one duck...anyone need any boys?

We hatched 5 ducklings in April and ended up wit 4 and 1 - what luck. The 2 WH boys have been bullying and "dominating" my Cayuga and Pekins. Anyone up for a trade? I'd order more but we only intended to have about four ducks. I'd love to get a girl Pekin and a girl Cayuga. Any ideas? Anyone...

Putting the ducks away at night.....

Quote: Speck and Jax came labeled WH as we ordered Welsh Harlequins, AC's egg was labeled X/P which we assumed meant extra Pekin as we we shipped a baker's dozen but s/he is almost identical to Speck. Thanks for checking the thread.

Putting the ducks away at night.....

Our five ducks are seven weeks old today. We are in a suburban neighborhood and they free-range during the day and get locked in a duckhouse at night because we've seen foxes around sometimes. Anyway, usually we have to "guide" them into the duckhouse ( I do enjoy watching my 5 and 8 yearold...

Duck Coop & Training Question *pics of my ponds included*

Quote: I think using cedar in wood form is fine for a house. I believe it's the shavings/wood dust that shows high levels of plicatic acid which may/may not lead to asthma.

Thanks for the input. I was going with 95 week one, then drop 5 deg each week. Nobody is trying to escape the heat lamp but I will try it off. Thanks again.
