Haven't been on in awhile. Hope everyone is well!
My chicken allergy is getting progessively worse to the point that I now need an inhaler if I do the waterers. :( SO----- We have to get rid of all the chickens. We'll be selling the entire flock as breeding groups, pairs or trios. I only keep...

Thanks! I'm trying to keep the projects to a minimum. I've been working on the Lavender Orpington Project for 3 years. I'm also working with Paint Silkies. If I had unlimited space & funds I'd work on many, many more projects!!

Are these from my stock?
Nope... I had lavender, split & project chicks in spring 2010. My project girls didn't show the red markings as they grew & I wasn't sure if they were splits or project so I sold them to a friend who wanted the colored eggs. I started fresh last december using...
Egg color looks good, especially for a project! The Wheaten girls layed a very light egg - almost ice blue. The lavender's eggs were on the green side of blue. Most of these eggs are much better than both with one girl laying more on the green side, but most a nice soft blue.
The project eggs...
Sorry I didn't get these up yesterday -- between being a mom, having 2 jobs & the chickens, yesterday was insane!
Here they are~~~~~~~~~~
One of my F1 girls:
Here's Houdini & the ladies:
As with any lavender based project, the F1 coloring looks nothing like the goal. It takes 2 copies for...
I just took pics today & am uploading them. The Isabel pattern is like this -http://gallery.thepoultrykeeper.co.uk/v/thewinkingtiger/MVC-004S.JPG.html but the colors don't appear true in that pic. The color should be more like this - . I downloaded the D'uccle pic as a color example - the...
I'd love to hatch these myself, but hubby doesn't want fall chicks!
I DO NOT plan on selling more than this ONE auction from this project!
UPDATE: 35 eggs collected so far!!!!!
In the past few days, I've collected 12 eggs already. This auction will be for the 12 I've already collected PLUS all...

I know nothing about Marans or OE, but Ameraucanas have peacombs with the 3 rows that you described. All of my White Ameraucanas are Jean's stock too, as well as the lav & splits that I've rehomed. I feel really lucky to have them! I started with a pair of whites & they were very...

Nicole--- If you send me your email addy, I'll forward you the newsletter. There's also great articles by Craig Russel & our own TOLchick, Jen!
The Preservation Project is indeed Noah's brainchild. BTW -- He got a President's Education Award last week!
I also wonder where they get their information...
The Dorking as a breed is in danger of extinction, but out of all the varieties, the Silver Grey is the most common.

I think Ed Hart in IL has cuckoo. But you'll want to call him and find out if he ships eggs in the fall. He also has RC colored, but I believe availability is rather limited.
Ed has White & Colored. The White pen has thrown a few sport cuckoos this year.

If I'm not mistaken, Leghorns are dominant white. You need 2 copies of lav to have a visually lavender bird. Your Araucana will give one copy to his offspring & theoretically, they will be visually white split to(carrying) lavender. If you breed them back to the Araucana roo, you'll get...

That fox comes near my flock, I'll shoot it myself!
Toying with the idea of getting some nice Dels to breed myself. Or maybe some bantam Brown Leghorns.

Welcome to the "dorking obsessed" club! Love to see that I am not the ONLY ONE who sits on the floor of her (his) coop!
Your girls are lovely :-)
Very pretty! Aren't Dorkings the BEST???
Jen -- Noah sits on the floor too...LOL. I keep a little stool out there so I can sit too...
