Rabbits on wire bottom cage?(PICS ADDED)

you could also put in some straw or wood shavings (if they dont fall through). The straw works great because they can burrow into it, play with it, and eat it- and it keeps them off the wire.

    egg size?

A few of our chickens just started laying on tuesday and we were wondering how long it would take for their eggs to reach the large size? They do seem to be getting gradually larger but only slightly. They are about 20 wks old now and some wyandottes and australorps are laying if that makes...

    Is my rabbit preg?

i suppose you could with the bucks...it depends on what you are going to do with the babies. You wont be able to make out a correct pedigree for them if you use both bucks. But if you dont need a ped. and just want her pregnant then you could- just take her from one cage to the other but...

    rabbits in winter?

I also keep mine outside all year in a hutch and i just wanted to add that you can use bisque queen (sp?)(a clear plasticy material) to wrap and staple around the legs of the hutch to keep out any drafts from going up through the bottom. To cover the front door, if it is wire, i use plexy...

What Kind of Bunnies Are These?

I would say both are netherland dwarfs, just not show quality -pet. They could be mixed with a netherland dwarf or be a netherland dwarf that did not get the dwarfing gene. But to me they both look like dwarfs. They are adorable tho!! P.S. Not sure of you really care or not but the black...

our SLW roo is at the bottom of the roo list. He has not started crowing yet but the other 2 roosters crow constantly (orpingtons). He is not aggressive at all but not exactly friendly. He just seems to be "there" doing his own thing. The hens have not started laying so im not sure about...

    SLW Pullet.. Right?

i think it might be a pullet...all 6 of our SLW pullets have always been the reddest and they got red really young. They are 12 weeks now and still the reddest and most developed by far. Even when they were younger you could still tell which one was the roo.

    rabbit age/ angora question...

the one you were looking at may also be a jersey wooly. They have the angora type fur all over too and it will get matted if not brushed. Most Jersey Woolies are also smaller than any of the others talked about here and their ears are shorter and straight up. They come in many colors with...

    baby rabbit trouble(i need help)

From what you have said it sounds like the mother is doing a great job with them! like others have said the one she ate was most likely already dead and she was disposing of it in her way. It sounds like they are feeding just fine from her and she should have plenty of milk and not dried up...
