I've had a poor hatch this time, every egg had an issue my chicken egg had a mobile air sac but hatched beautifully, my first gosling was shrink wrapped but with slow patient help hatched and is healthy.
my last gosling however was stuck to the egg and had its yolk sac rupture on hatch with...
Update: We changed her drinker and now she is drinking, she is looking like she's going to be a very good looking bird. I on the other hand won't be as she hasn't let me sleep well, in a week.
She's doing okay but she won't eat chick crumbs, I've been feeding her a corn and persimmon mush, and I still haven't seen her drinking for herself yet. But she's energetic sleeping well, and sociable.
In all honestly I have no idea what a crop or a craw is but I see her eating the persimmon and corn mush I made but she's ignoring chick crumb entirely, I think I have a little madam on my hands.
I tried the mirror trick again, the moment it looked behind the mirror to not find another bird it lost all interest. It is eating from a spoon sometimes but no pecking at the food when it's in a bird trough.
She's still not eating yes so i've made a baby mush up for her I just thought i'd ask if it would be fine before I gave it to her, it's cooked persimmon with corn and yolk blended into a paste.
It's a bantam, believed to be a female, we hatch birds for egg laying and pets not meat, and it was to be a favour to my grandad, but he then told us who it was for and she has a history of strangling her birds, we hatched and raised to adulthood three birds for her prior and she has killed them...
I hatched a single egg as the rest weren't fertile leaving me with a lone chick, it's been a full day now since he hatched but he still can't stand or walk, when he tried his legs end up over his head and move in a swimming motion, he also struggles to keep his head up, I worry cause I don't...
Thank you very much, but he is panicked when I leave now as he's alone, and chirps as loud as he can when he can't see me, and is taking no notice of his water. I've put in a stuffed toy but he ignores it.
I've put a mirror in, a cuddly toy and my mothers ipad with a video of chicks on it, and he cries and he cries out for me still. Guess you're right a friend it is, thoguh I worry about him being away from his brooder when he's very wobbly trying to look for me, that leads me on to, should I be...
A lone blonde chick [all other eggs were infertile] was born this morning at 9am, has fluffed up well, and is begging for attention. Am a bit unsure as to how i'm going to stop it being lonely at this moment as I do not keep hens myself I just hatch them and keep them till maturity when they...
I've had a single chick born this morning, [none of the other eggs were fertile I received], does anyone have advice on raising it, I've only raised groups before and it's begging for attention, I only hatch birds for others and keep them till they are old enough to be fine without a brooder, I...
I'm on day 21 of my incubation period, i've raised humidity since day 18, to between 65%-75%, the temperature has remained constant, but there has been no movement from the egg, no pips, and no sound, the egg was candled on it's last day before lock-down and the chick was very much moving...
