My little Serama Bantam hen was in her run at 1 o'clock then when i got back at 6 she had gone, i suspected a predator but there were no feathers or any blood in the run. I searched for her in the nearby bushes and found some broken eggs on the floor but i couldn't see her. Is it possible she...

    Where to put my chicks?

I've recently had the pleasure of hatching chicks, it's time to go outside now and I don't know whether I should put them with my Seramas for a while before putting them in with the hybrid flock? Or should I put them straight into the main flock?

    Flat Bottomed Chick?

I seem to have hatched a chick with a completely flat bum. This is causing problems as when it poops it just clings on to the fluff around the vent. Whereas in a normal chick it would fall off due to the shape of the bird. HELP!?

    Chick sizes?

Hey I have 5 chicks that hatched a day early, and realised that my leghorns were smaller than what I assumed to be a silkie chick. It has 5 toes and feathery legs. It's the darker coloured one in the picture. The leghorn is the one right next to it in the middle of the photo.

Araucana Cross Breed, Rooster or Hen?

That's probably it then as I have no other reason to suspect it's a cockerel apart from a brief fight this morning.

Araucana Cross Breed, Rooster or Hen?

It looks exactly like the cuckoo female on the omlet website, but it fought my cockerel briefly so I questioned its gender. But do hens fight like cocks when the pecking order is being re shuffled?

Has a small pinkish comb, no wattles or spurs but being unfamiliar with the breed I don't know if this is normal. It's 26...

    2 Cocks, 1 silkie 1 Wynadotte

My flock of 10, 3 silkies (1 cock) 6 hybrids 1 Barnevelder and 1 polish frizzle bantam. They all free range and there is 3 coops available, the silkies in one and the rest in another. So with the spare coop, enough for 8 birds I have been offered 3 Wynadottes one of them a cock. Can this work...

    My Neighbors Chickens

Only foxes at night, and they are becoming ever more sparse and could be chased away by a cockerel anyway. This makes it a lot easier to keep poultry.

    My Neighbors Chickens

Actually I'm not sure free range is the right word, but they have chicken wire or panels all around them with coops inside.

    My Neighbors Chickens

Oh sorry I should have explained they free range, with coops they get locked in at night. I live in England so the only real predator is a fox.
